DESCRIPTION
Professional inverter/charger for stable 230V AC power and intelligent battery charging
The Victron MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-32 inverter/charger is built for demanding Australian power systems where reliability, clean output and control matter. It combines a high-quality pure sine wave inverter with an advanced battery charger and an integrated AC transfer switch, giving you a compact, single-unit solution for caravans, 4WD touring, marine installations, off-grid solar and backup power in homes, sheds and remote sites.
In practical terms, it helps turn your 12V battery bank into consistent 230V AC for everyday appliances and sensitive electronics, while also charging your batteries correctly when shore power, grid or a generator is available. This is especially useful in real-world setups where AC supply can be limited or inconsistent (crowded caravan parks, long extension leads, small generators, or sites with fluctuating loads).
PowerControl and PowerAssist: manage limited AC supply without constant load juggling
Unlike basic inverter chargers that either pass-through or shut down under pressure, this unit supports PowerControl to limit incoming AC current and reduce nuisance trips on weak supplies. When a load briefly demands more than the available mains or generator can provide, PowerAssist can supplement that shortfall from the battery. The benefit is smoother operation of higher-start appliances and tools in caravan parks and generator-powered setups where supply headroom is tight.
Fast transfer switching for continuity on essential circuits
When external AC drops out, the inverter can take over quickly to help keep selected circuits running. This makes it a strong fit for UPS-style resilience in home and off-grid backup systems, such as comms, networking, refrigeration, medical support loads, control systems, and other equipment that benefits from continuity and stable voltage.
Charging designed to suit modern battery systems
Battery charging is where many generic inverter chargers fall short—especially with lithium batteries. The integrated charger supports configurable charge profiles for LiFePO4 and lead-acid batteries, helping you align charging behaviour with battery manufacturer recommendations. Support for battery temperature sensing improves charge accuracy as conditions change, reducing unnecessary stress on batteries and improving day-to-day performance for mobile and off-grid power systems.
Dual AC outputs to prioritise critical vs non-critical loads
With two AC outputs, you can separate critical loads (that you want backed up by the inverter) from non-essential loads (that should run only when external AC is present). This is a practical way to protect runtime overnight, prevent accidental battery depletion, and keep the most important circuits operating during outages or when running from battery-only.
Monitoring and system integration ready
For installers and technically-minded users, VE.Bus communication enables deeper configuration, system integration and compatibility with Victron monitoring ecosystems such as VRM (when used with a compatible GX device). This helps with commissioning, remote oversight, alarms, and automation options like generator start/stop via a programmable relay to suit your site requirements.
Key features
- Inverter + charger + transfer switching in one unit to simplify system design and wiring
- Pure sine wave 230V output for stable operation of sensitive electronics and appliances
- PowerControl & PowerAssist to help manage limited grid/generator supply and support short peak loads
- Fast changeover to help maintain continuity for essential circuits
- Dual AC outputs for prioritised critical vs non-critical load control
- Configurable charging to suit lithium and lead-acid battery systems
Peak power capability helps cover short start-up surges from motor loads and compressors, while the 120A charger supports faster recovery when you’re back on mains or generator—particularly valuable after overnight use or during poor solar conditions. As with any inverter/charger installation, performance depends on correct cable sizing, battery capability, ventilation and protective devices.
