DESCRIPTION
Victron BMV-702: Precision Battery Monitoring for 12V to 48V Systems
Advanced Battery Management with Midpoint Voltage Detection
The Victron BMV-702 Battery Monitor functions as an intelligent fuel gauge for your battery bank, delivering real-time data on voltage, current, state of charge, and time remaining. Unlike basic voltage meters, the BMV-702 employs sophisticated algorithms that account for discharge rate, temperature, and battery age, ensuring accurate readings even under dynamic loads. This model includes a dedicated secondary input for midpoint voltage monitoring, a critical feature for identifying cell imbalances in series-connected battery strings before they lead to costly failures.
Designed for lithium and lead-acid batteries, the BMV-702 supports systems from 6.5V to 95V DC, making it suitable for 12V, 24V, and 48V installations in caravans, marine vessels, and off-grid solar setups. The included 500A/50mV shunt provides high-resolution current measurement down to 10mA, while the VE.Direct communication port enables integration with Victron GX devices and the VictronConnect app for detailed historical analysis.
Midpoint Voltage Monitoring: Protect Your Battery Investment
In series-connected battery banks, a single failing cell can compromise the entire string. The BMV-702 continuously measures the voltage at the midpoint of the bank, detecting deviations that indicate imbalance, aging, or damage. Early warning via programmable alarms allows corrective action, such as equalisation charging or cell replacement, preventing irreversible damage to expensive battery sets. This feature is especially valuable for large lithium or AGM banks where replacement costs are significant.

Easy Installation and Flexible Mounting
The BMV-702 ships with a 500A/50mV shunt featuring M10 (approx. 3/8") brass terminals, a 10-metre RJ12 cable, and a fused battery connection. The round head unit (63mm diameter) can be flush-mounted using the included square bezel (69x69mm) for a clean dashboard appearance. All electrical connections terminate at the shunt’s quick-connect PCB, simplifying wiring and reducing installation time.
Applications
Ideal for monitoring lithium battery banks in caravans, RVs, and boats, the BMV-702 also excels in off-grid solar systems, backup power installations, and industrial battery rooms. Its ability to track multiple parameters helps users optimise charging, extend battery life, and avoid unexpected downtime.

WARRANTY
Victron Energy Limited Warranty Policy
Direct Customers
Victron Energy provides the following warranty to any direct customer (OEM, distributor or dealer) in relation to any products that Victron Energy has directly sold to the direct customer. This warranty is not an end-user warranty between Victron Energy and an end-user, and end-users shall not have any rights or remedies under this limited warranty towards Victron Energy directly. The direct customer shall, in turn, ensure that the end-user is provided with a warranty identical to this warranty, subject to applicable local mandatory law.
End-Users
Victron Energy may also provide a warranty directly to end-users, in which case the below warranty conditions equally apply to such warranty. In that case, end-users shall claim their warranty at their place of purchase or through the original direct customer of Victron, which can be found through the support section on Victron’s website https://www.victronenergy.com/support. Hence, the direct customer shall on behalf of Victron Energy deal with any warranty claims made under any warranty that Victron Energy may provide directly to end-users. This support section on Victron’s website https://www.victronenergy.com/support will provide further guidance on the procedure for end-users to make a claim under this limited warranty.
If the end-user is a consumer – a natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside that person's trade, business, craft or profession – the following applies. The rights and remedies granted to the consumer under this limited warranty are without prejudice to the consumer’s statutory rights. Furthermore, the consumer is entitled by law to remedies from the seller free of charge in the event of a lack of conformity of the goods (such as repair, replacement, price reduction or rescission), which remedies are not affected by this limited warranty.
