DESCRIPTION
Genuine Stäubli MC4 Panel Mount Connectors for Secure Solar Enclosures
Establishing a secure, weather-tight connection through a combiner box, campervan chassis, or distribution board requires highly engineered components. The Stäubli Bulkhead MC4 Connector Pair delivers a professional, panel-mounted solution for passing solar cables through rigid surfaces. As the original inventor of the MC4 standard, Stäubli provides precision-engineered solar connectors that eliminate the severe risks associated with generic, low-grade alternatives, such as high contact resistance, heat generation, and potential arc faults.
Designed for permanent installations, these bulkhead connectors offer a highly stable mounting point. Whether you are building an off-grid caravan power system, wiring an industrial solar array, or setting up a marine 12V solar application, this panel mount MC4 connector pair ensures that your wiring transitions cleanly and securely without exposing the interior of your enclosure to the elements.
Advanced MULTILAM Contact Technology
At the core of these connectors is Stäubli's proprietary MULTILAM contact technology. Generic connectors often suffer from degrading contact pressure over time, leading to resistance and dangerous overheating. In contrast, the MULTILAM system uses specially formed, resilient contact louvers that maintain constant spring pressure against the mating pin. This results in an exceptionally low contact resistance of just 0.25 mΩ.
By minimising electrical resistance, the tin-plated copper contacts facilitate maximum power transfer and significantly reduce power loss within your PV system. This level of efficiency is crucial for maintaining optimal performance in both 12V automotive setups and high-voltage commercial arrays up to 1500V DC.
Built for Harsh Australian Environments
Solar components must endure decades of UV exposure, extreme temperature fluctuations, and heavy rain. Stäubli constructs these MC4 panel mount connectors with robust PC/PA insulation materials, granting them outstanding durability. When properly mated, the connection boasts an impressive IP65 and IP68 protection rating, effectively sealing out dust and allowing submersion in up to one metre of water for an hour.
Furthermore, the connectors comply with strict safety standards, carrying a UL94:V-0 fire protection classification. This ensures that your solar investment is protected by components designed to handle high loads in volatile outdoor environments without degrading prematurely.
Safe, Compliant, and Easy to Integrate
These connectors are engineered for safe and compliant operation. The locking snap-in system requires a specific tool for disconnection, preventing accidental unplugging by vibration or unauthorized handling, a critical requirement for modern electrical codes. They readily accept standard solar cable cross-sections of 4mm2 and 6mm2 (equivalent to approximately 12AWG and 10AWG), with an outer cable diameter range of 5.5mm to 9mm.
For system builders, these connectors simplify the integration process. The included plastic locking nuts secure firmly to your bulkhead, and the standardized crimp terminals create a permanent, gas-tight bond with your solar wire, ensuring reliable electrical contact for the lifespan of your installation.
