WARRANTY

Transco Warranty Policy

This warranty policy applies to genuine Transco products supplied by us in Australia through authorised or approved sales channels. This policy applies to the original end-user purchaser of the product, as evidenced by the authorised dealer’s, reseller’s, or distributor’s invoice, and is not transferable without written approval.

Transco products supplied by us are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service, subject to the terms and conditions below. Where a Transco manufacturer warranty applies, we may coordinate warranty assessment, repair, replacement, or other remedies through Transco, an authorised distributor, or an approved service provider.

The benefits given by this warranty are in addition to any other rights and remedies available under law.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Warranty Coverage and Periods

This warranty covers genuine Transco electrical products supplied by us, including Transco outlets, switches, plugs, sockets, circuit protection products, portable power outlets, temporary site power boards, emergency lighting, caravan electrical accessories, conduit fittings, mounting accessories, and related electrical supplies.

If a specific Transco product supplied by us has a longer written warranty stated on the product page, packaging, invoice, or manufacturer documentation, that longer written warranty period will apply to that product.

Commencement of Warranty: The warranty period begins on the date of purchase by the original end-user, as shown on the authorised dealer’s, reseller’s, or distributor’s invoice. A valid proof of purchase from an authorised sales channel is required for all warranty claims.

Installer Responsibilities and System Design

Transco electrical products are often installed, connected, mounted, wired, protected, or integrated into a broader electrical system, vehicle, vessel, building, caravan, site installation, switchboard, or operating environment. Once installed, the product may form only one component of a larger electrical system.

The installer, system designer, integrator, dealer, or end-user is responsible for ensuring that the product is suitable for the intended application and is installed correctly. Where electrical work must legally be carried out by a licensed electrician, installation must be performed by a suitably licensed and competent person.

Issues or damage arising from incorrect installation, poor electrical design, incorrect device selection, incompatible equipment, inadequate protection, unsuitable mounting, or failure to follow instructions are not product defects and are not covered by this warranty.

  • Appropriate Installation: Transco products must be installed in accordance with the product manual, installation instructions, applicable Australian Standards, wiring rules, electrical safety requirements, manufacturer specifications, and recognised industry best practice.
  • System Compatibility: The installer or integrator is responsible for ensuring that all connected equipment, wiring, enclosures, circuit protection, earthing, mounting hardware, conduits, plugs, sockets, and accessories are compatible and correctly rated.
  • Electrical Loading and Protection: Products must not be overloaded or used outside their voltage, current, duty cycle, temperature, IP rating, or environmental specifications. Suitable protective devices must be used where required.
  • Weatherproof and Caravan Installations: Weatherproof, outdoor, caravan, RV, marine, and site products must be installed with correct sealing, orientation, drainage, mechanical support, cable entry, strain relief, and protection from exposure beyond the product rating.
  • Service Accessibility: Products must be installed in a manner that allows reasonable access for inspection, testing, servicing, removal, and replacement.
  • Testing and Maintenance: RCDs, RCBOs, emergency lights, portable power outlets, site boards, and other safety-related products must be tested and maintained as required by the product instructions, applicable standards, and normal industry practice.

We may require installation documentation when assessing a warranty claim. This may include photos of the installed product, wiring diagrams, circuit details, switchboard layout, connected equipment, serial numbers, installer details, commissioning records, maintenance records, RCD/RCBO test records, emergency lighting test records, or fault logs.

Warranty Exclusions

This warranty covers manufacturing defects or failures of the Transco product supplied by us arising from normal use in accordance with the product instructions. It does not cover any failure, damage, performance issue, deterioration, or loss caused wholly or partly by external factors, misuse, incorrect installation, or circumstances outside our control.

Warranty exclusions include:

  • Improper Installation or Handling: Incorrect wiring, incorrect mounting, incorrect assembly, failure to follow instructions, unlicensed electrical work, non-compliant installation, over-tightening, under-tightening, insufficient support, inadequate sealing, incorrect cable entry, poor strain relief, or damage during removal or reinstallation.
  • Misuse, Abuse, or Neglect: Use outside product specifications, overloading, excessive duty cycle, physical abuse, dropping, crushing, impact, exposure to unsuitable environments, careless handling, neglect, deliberate damage, or continued use after a fault becomes apparent.
  • Unauthorised Modification or Repair: Modification, alteration, disassembly, repair, rewiring, refinishing, replacement with non-original parts, removal of safety labels, tampering with sealed components, or any other unauthorised interference.
  • Incompatible or Third-Party Components: Damage caused by incompatible equipment, incorrectly rated cables, plugs, sockets, breakers, enclosures, loads, appliances, chargers, generators, inverters, tools, mounting hardware, sealants, or accessories.
  • Environmental Damage: Water ingress beyond the product rating, corrosion, salt mist, chemical exposure, excessive dust, mud, contamination, excessive heat or cold, UV degradation beyond normal expectations, fire, smoke, lightning, flood, storm, hail, pest damage, vibration, or improper storage.
  • System Design or Configuration Faults: Incorrect circuit design, incorrect protection selection, incorrect ratings, over-voltage, over-current, lack of isolation, lack of earthing, poor fault isolation, cascading damage from another component, or failure of another component causing damage to the Transco product.
  • Lack of Required Maintenance: Failure to inspect, clean, test, tighten, service, maintain, or replace parts where required. This includes failure to test RCD/RCBO operation, failure to maintain emergency lighting batteries, failure to inspect portable power equipment, or failure to address visible damage or deterioration.
  • Normal Wear and Tear: Cosmetic marks, fading, surface wear, minor discolouration, normal ageing, consumable wear, battery capacity reduction consistent with normal use, or deterioration that does not affect product function.
  • Serial Number or Identification Removed: Removal, defacement, alteration, or tampering with serial numbers, batch numbers, compliance labels, rating labels, or identification markings may make the product ineligible for warranty service.
  • Unauthorised Resale or Non-Authorised Purchases: Products purchased second-hand, from unauthorised marketplaces, auctions, liquidation sales, grey-market sellers, or unapproved channels may not be covered.
  • Abnormal Applications: Use in mining, hire fleets, heavy industrial, continuous-duty, emergency-service, high-cycle, public infrastructure, or other high-stress applications may be excluded unless approved in writing before use.
  • Overseas Use: Unless otherwise agreed in writing, this warranty applies to products sold and used within Australia. Products exported, resold, installed, or used outside Australia may be subject to different warranty arrangements, and all freight, customs, duties, taxes, and compliance costs are the responsibility of the customer, importer, distributor, or reseller.

To the extent permitted by law, this warranty does not cover consequential or incidental loss, including damage to other equipment, loss of revenue, loss of profit, downtime, loss of use, third-party labour, electrician call-out fees, travel costs, freight not approved by us, access equipment, structural modification, personal injury, property damage, or economic loss.

Making a Warranty Claim

Important: If you suspect a fault with a Transco product supplied by us, do not immediately remove or uninstall the product unless it is unsafe to leave it in place or unless authorised by us, the dealer, or an approved service provider. Premature removal can cause further damage, prevent proper assessment, and may make it difficult or impossible to determine the original cause of the issue.

  1. Contact the Dealer or Reseller: Warranty claims should be initiated through the authorised dealer, reseller, distributor, or place of purchase. Provide proof of purchase, product model, serial number if applicable, description of the issue, photos or videos of the fault, installation photos, connected equipment details, installation date, and service or maintenance history where relevant.
  2. Provide Product Information: The customer must provide the product model, invoice details, installation information, and a clear description of the issue, including when it started, whether it is intermittent or constant, any visible damage, fault symptoms, warning indicators, tripping events, overheating, smells, water ingress, corrosion, or troubleshooting already performed.
  3. Assessment and Troubleshooting: The dealer, reseller, distributor, or support team may conduct an initial assessment. This may involve safe checks, photos, measurements, test results, RCD/RCBO testing, emergency lighting test information, inspection of wiring, or confirmation of installation details.
  4. Photographic Evidence: Clear photos may be required before removal. Photos may include the product in its installed location, surrounding area, wiring, cable entries, mounting points, protection devices, labels, visible damage, signs of overheating, corrosion, contamination, water ingress, impact, or the overall electrical system layout.
  5. Return for Testing, Repair, or Inspection: If the fault cannot be confirmed by correspondence, photos, or remote troubleshooting, the product may need to be returned for inspection, testing, repair, or replacement assessment. Return instructions will be provided. Unless otherwise agreed, the customer is responsible for safely packaging the product and returning it to the place of purchase or nominated assessment location.
  6. Evaluation and Outcome: Once received, the product will be inspected and tested to determine whether the fault is covered by this warranty. If the fault is confirmed to be due to a covered manufacturing defect, an appropriate remedy will be provided. If the product is found not to be faulty, or the issue is caused by an excluded factor, the claim may be rejected.

Remedies Under Warranty

If a defect covered by this warranty is confirmed, we may, at our discretion and subject to applicable law, provide one or more of the following remedies:

  • repair;
  • replacement;
  • refund;
  • credit;
  • supply of replacement parts;
  • another appropriate remedy required by law.

Repair: If the defect can be resolved by repair, the product or relevant component may be repaired by us, Transco, an authorised service provider, or another approved party.

Replacement: If the product or major component is not reasonably repairable, a replacement may be supplied. The replacement may be the same model, a superseded equivalent, a product with similar specifications, a new unit, or a refurbished or factory-reconditioned unit where permitted by law.

Refund or Credit: In some cases, a refund or credit may be provided. Refunds will usually be handled by the original place of purchase. The refund amount will not exceed the original purchase price paid for the affected product unless otherwise required by law.

No Charge for Approved Claims: For approved warranty claims, the repair, replacement, refund, credit, or approved remedy will be provided at no charge to the customer. If we specifically request that a product be returned for assessment and the product is found to have a covered defect, we will cover reasonable return freight or supply the repaired or replacement item back to the customer, dealer, or reseller.

No Extension of Original Warranty: Repair or replacement under this warranty does not restart or extend the original warranty period. The warranty continues from the original purchase date. For example, if a product with a 12-month warranty is replaced in its ninth month, the replacement product is covered only for the remaining balance of the original warranty period.

Ancillary Parts for Approved Warranty Repairs: If a warranty claim is approved and replacement connectors, screws, seals, brackets, mounting hardware, fittings, or similar ancillary items are reasonably required to restore the product to normal operation, those items may be supplied at no cost. This does not include labour, removal, reinstallation, access equipment, structural modification, or costs associated with restricted access unless expressly required by law or agreed in writing.

Limit of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability under this warranty is limited to the repair, replacement, refund, credit, or approved remedy relating to the defective Transco product supplied by us.

We are not responsible for special, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from product failure, installation issues, misuse, system design, or breach of warranty. This includes, to the extent permitted by law, third-party labour, electrician costs, removal or reinstallation costs, travel costs, freight not approved by us, access equipment, structural modification, loss of revenue, loss of profit, downtime, loss of use, damage to other equipment, property damage, personal injury, loss of data, or economic loss.

Nothing in this warranty excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
