Hellermann Tyton Pre-Insulated Terminal Red Ring Lug M4 Hole

DESCRIPTION

Hellermann Tyton Red Ring Lug M4: Precision Pre-Insulated Terminal for Demanding Electrical Connections

Engineered for Reliability in High-Vibration Environments

The Hellermann Tyton Pre-Insulated Terminal Red Ring Lug M4 Hole is a professional-grade connector designed to deliver secure, long-lasting electrical terminations in automotive, marine, and industrial applications. Its double grip crimp design provides a robust mechanical and electrical bond, making it an excellent choice for circuits exposed to constant movement and vibration. Unlike generic terminals that may loosen over time, this ring lug maintains consistent contact pressure, reducing the risk of intermittent faults and downtime.

Manufactured from high-conductivity copper with a durable PVC insulation sleeve, this terminal is colour-coded red for quick identification of 0.5–1.5 mm² conductor sizes. The three-piece construction ensures precise alignment during crimping, while the vinyl insulation offers reliable protection up to +75 °C. Whether you're wiring a 12V automotive accessory, a 24V truck system, or a 48V off-grid setup, this terminal supports up to 600 V maximum DC voltage, making it versatile across a range of low-voltage applications.

Key Features

  • Double grip crimp zone grips both conductor and insulation for superior vibration resistance
  • Colour-coded red vinyl insulation enables fast, error-free size selection
  • Three-piece construction with copper body and PVC sleeve for consistent performance
  • M4 stud hole (4.3 mm) suits common metric fasteners in fuse blocks, busbars, and earth points
  • Rated to 600 V max DC and 19 A max current, suitable for 12V, 24V, and 48V systems
  • Operating temperature up to +75 °C for under-bonnet and enclosed installations
  • RoHS compliant materials for environmentally conscious projects

Why Double Grip Matters

In high-vibration settings such as engine bays, trailer wiring, or machinery, standard single-crimp terminals can work loose, leading to increased resistance, heat buildup, and potential failure. The Hellermann Tyton double grip design addresses this by crimping both the wire strands and the insulation simultaneously. This dual-point fixation absorbs mechanical stress and prevents the conductor from flexing at the crimp entry, significantly extending service life. For professionals who cannot afford callbacks or safety risks, this terminal provides peace of mind.

Applications

This M4 ring terminal is ideal for:

  • Automotive earth points and accessory wiring
  • Marine navigation lights, bilge pumps, and switch panels
  • Caravan and RV 12V systems, including solar charge controllers
  • Industrial control panels and machinery with M4 stud terminals
  • DIY electronics projects requiring a secure ring connection

The compact 21.2 mm length and 8.0 mm width allow installation in tight spaces, while the 4.3 mm hole diameter fits M4 studs with slight clearance for easy alignment. For best results, use the recommended Hellermann Tyton HYYT7 crimp tool to achieve a gas-tight, cold-welded connection.

Note: Maximum current rating is 19 A; typical de-rating factors apply based on ambient temperature, bundling, and duty cycle.
