Delivering a 70A charge rate at 24V, this unit helps replenish auxiliary battery banks during engine operation. For 24V applications, Balmar specifies a Max Charge multi-stage regulator.

The Advantage of an Isolated Ground Architecture

One of the critical engineering features of this alternator is its Isolated Ground (IsoGrd) design. In standard alternators, the casing acts as the negative return path through the engine block. However, in marine vessels with steel or aluminium hulls, using the engine block or chassis as a return path can introduce stray currents. This accelerates galvanic corrosion and can cause severe damage to underwater metals, engine components, and sensitive onboard electronics.

By featuring a dedicated isolated negative terminal, this 24V isolated ground alternator keeps the DC charging circuit completely separate from the engine block. 3.15in Hitachi-Style Dual-Foot Saddle Mount

This unit uses a dual-foot saddle mount configuration with a 3.15in (Approx. 80mm) mounting footprint. Balmar calls this the Hitachi-style mount, typical for Yanmar, Westerbeke, Lehman and Perkins-Sabre engines. It is not the 4in J-180-style mount, so check your engine bracket before ordering.
