Blue Sea Contura II DPDT (ON)-OFF-ON Momentary Switch, Black
Blue Sea Contura II DPDT (ON)-OFF-ON Momentary Switch, Black
Marine-Grade Water-Resistant Rocker with Red Lens & Spade Terminals

DESCRIPTION
Heavy-Duty Three-Position Marine and Off-Grid Rocker Switch
The Blue Sea Systems Contura II DPDT (ON)-OFF-ON Momentary Switch provides precise, reliable circuit control for demanding marine, automotive, and off-grid electrical systems. Featuring a Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) configuration, this three-position switch offers one momentary ON position, a central OFF state, and one maintained ON position. This specific action is ideal for applications requiring temporary activation alongside a continuous operating mode, such as dual-speed wiper motors, bilge pumps with manual override, or complex lighting arrays.
Engineered for Harsh Environments
Standard automotive switches often fail prematurely when exposed to corrosive coastal air or constant mechanical movement. The Contura II series is purpose-built to mitigate these risks, featuring a durable thermoplastic housing and an integrated mounting gasket that seals the panel cut-out against water ingress. Specifically engineered to withstand severe vibration, physical shock, thermoshock, moisture, and salt spray, it reduces the risk of electrical shorts and terminal corrosion in open-cockpit boats, 4WD canopies, and off-road caravans.
Ergonomic Control and Seamless Integration
Designed for intuitive operation in low-light or turbulent conditions, the black Contura II actuator features a textured, non-slip surface with raised ergonomic bumps for positive tactile feedback. The integrated red indicator lens provides clear visual confirmation when the circuit is active, improving operational awareness at the helm or dashboard. Rear male spade terminals ensure straightforward, secure wire termination during installation.
Key Features and Benefits
- DPDT (ON)-OFF-ON Action: Combines momentary and maintained switching in a single unit with a positive centre-off position to prevent accidental cross-activation.
- Marine-Grade Environmental Protection: Tested for high resistance to salt spray, moisture, thermoshock, and heavy vibration.
- Water-Resistant Panel Seal: Includes a perimeter sealing gasket to protect rear wiring and busbars from splashes and washdowns.
- Tactile Contura II Actuator: Black non-slip rocker with raised contours and an integrated red status lens for easy identification.
- Direct Panel Compatibility: Designed to snap directly into Blue Sea Systems Contura Water Resistant Panels and Contura Switch Mounting Panels.
Common Applications
The versatile six-terminal DPDT layout allows this switch to control two separate circuits simultaneously or manage polarity-reversing setups when wired accordingly. It is widely utilised by marine electricians and custom vehicle builders for:
- Bilge Pump Control: Using the maintained ON position for automatic float switch operation and the momentary (ON) position for manual override purging.
- Windshield Wipers and Washers: Running continuous wiper operation on one side while triggering a momentary washer pump on the other.
- Dual-Circuit Marine Lighting: Switching between anchor lights and steaming/running lights from a single helm position.
- Auxiliary 12V and 24V Systems: Controlling horn relays, trim tabs, or dual-battery bridging solenoids in custom 4WD and RV electrical panels.
