Blue Sea Contura DPDT ON-OFF-ON Black Panel-Mount Switch
Blue Sea Contura DPDT ON-OFF-ON Black Panel-Mount Switch
Ignition Protected UL1500/ISO8846 - Moisture & Salt Spray Resistant

DESCRIPTION
Reliable Marine and Off-Road Electrical Control: Three-Position DPDT Rocker Switch
Engineered for Harsh Environments and Water-Resistant Panels
The Blue Sea Systems Contura DPDT Switch is a heavy-duty electrical component engineered specifically for demanding marine, 4WD, and off-grid applications. Featuring a versatile Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) configuration with a maintained ON-OFF-ON action, this switch provides precise control over complex dual-circuit systems from a single mounting point. Whether you are wiring combined navigation and anchor lights, operating bilge pumps with manual overrides, or managing auxiliary battery circuits, the central OFF position prevents accidental cross-activation.
Designed to integrate seamlessly into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant panels, this switch is built to outlast standard automotive switches that quickly succumb to corrosion and mechanical failure. Its ergonomic black textured rocker features a tactile triple-bar grip, ensuring confident operation even in wet, dark, or rough conditions.
Certified Ignition Protection and Environmental Durability
Electrical components installed in marine vessels and off-road vehicles face constant exposure to extreme elements. This Contura rocker switch is rigorously tested to resist intense vibration, physical shock, thermoshock, moisture ingress, and corrosive salt spray. An integrated moisture-resistant mounting gasket helps maintain a secure, water-tight seal against the panel face, protecting rear wiring connections from water damage.
Safety in enclosed engine bays and fuel storage areas is critical. This switch is fully ignition protected, complying with strict UL1500 and ISO8846 standards. It is safe for installation aboard petrol-powered boats and near flammable gases, reducing the risk of an internal electrical arc igniting surrounding fumes.
Key Features and Benefits
- Three-Position DPDT Operation: Maintained ON-OFF-ON switching allows independent or combined control of two separate electrical circuits.
- Marine-Grade Resilience: Specifically constructed to withstand ongoing exposure to salt spray, moisture, extreme temperature fluctuations, and heavy vibration.
- Certified Ignition Protection: Meets UL1500 and ISO8846 safety requirements for safe installation in petrol boat bilges and engine compartments.
- Tactile Ergonomic Actuator: Black rocker face with a raised triple-bar design provides positive feedback and slip-resistant operation.
- Seamless Panel Integration: Purpose-built with a moisture-resistant gasket for direct mounting into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant switch panels.
- Standardised Connectivity: Equipped with rear spade terminals to support straightforward, secure wiring installations.
Versatile Applications for Marine and 4WD Systems
While purpose-built for marine switchboards, the robust nature of the Contura series makes it an exceptional upgrade for custom 4x4 canopies, camper trailers, and industrial control panels. Common applications include:
- Marine navigation and anchor light combination switching
- Automatic and manual bilge pump control circuits
- Dual tank fuel gauge switching or transfer pump operation
- Windscreen wiper speed control or dual-stage auxiliary lighting in 4WDs
