Blue Sea 8A single-pole toggle circuit breaker with black lever and threaded mounting holes

Blue Sea 8A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker Black

DESCRIPTION

Integrated Switching and Overcurrent Protection for Marine and Mobile Panels

The Blue Sea Systems A-Series 8A Single-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker delivers both tactile circuit switching and dependable overcurrent protection in a single, compact device. Designed specifically for high-density electrical distribution panels, this black toggle breaker eliminates the need for separate switches and fuse holders. By consolidating these functions, it simplifies wiring schematics, reduces potential failure points, and saves valuable space on marine dash panels, caravan control boards, and custom off-grid power enclosures.

Precision Magnetic-Hydraulic Operation

Unlike standard thermal circuit breakers that rely on heat-sensitive bimetallic strips, the Blue Sea A-Series utilises advanced magnetic-hydraulic technology. Thermal breakers are often susceptible to ambient temperature fluctuations, which can lead to nuisance tripping in hot engine bays or failure to trip promptly in freezing conditions. A magnetic-hydraulic mechanism operates via a solenoid and fluid-damped core, meaning its trip curve remains stable and predictable regardless of the surrounding environment. This provides accurate 8A circuit protection across diverse Australian climates, from tropical marine environments to sub-zero alpine touring.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Dual-Function Design: Combines manual ON/OFF switching with automatic overcurrent protection in one compact housing.
  • Trip-Free Mechanism: Internal engineering ensures the breaker cannot be manually held in the ON position during an active fault current condition, protecting wiring and connected equipment from thermal damage.
  • Temperature-Stable Performance: Magnetic-hydraulic actuation prevents nuisance tripping caused by high ambient heat in enclosed electrical cabinets or engine compartments.
  • Secure Panel Mounting: Features integrated threaded brass inserts for straightforward, vibration-resistant installation into standard circuit breaker panels.
  • Clear Visual Indication: Ergonomic black toggle actuator is clearly marked with the 8A rating and provides immediate visual and tactile confirmation of the circuit status.
  • Industry-Standard Footprint: Serves as the standard circuit protection component for Blue Sea Systems electrical panels, ensuring seamless compatibility for replacements or custom builds.

Engineered for Harsh Environments and High Reliability

Electrical faults in mobile and marine applications pose significant safety risks. Sub-standard circuit protection can fail to interrupt short circuits quickly or corrode over time when exposed to coastal air. The A-Series housing is constructed to endure vibration, moisture, and salt mist, making it a preferred choice for boat builders, marine electricians, and RV technicians. The internal trip-free safety mechanism reduces the risk of electrical fires by ensuring the circuit remains open until the underlying fault is resolved, even if an operator attempts to force the toggle lever back into the active position.

Versatile Applications Across DC and AC Systems

With an 8A continuous rating, this single-pole breaker is suited for protecting low-to-moderate draw branch circuits. Common applications include:

  • Marine navigation electronics, chartplotters, and VHF radios
  • Cabin lighting circuits and LED work lights in caravans and camper trailers
  • Bilge pump control panels, freshwater pressure pumps, and telemetry sensors
  • Custom 12V and 24V auxiliary battery distribution boards in 4WD canopies

Upgrade Your Electrical Distribution Panel

Whether you are replacing a worn breaker in an existing Blue Sea Systems panel or designing a custom electrical switchboard from scratch, the BS-7347B provides professional-grade circuit management. Add this 8A A-Series toggle circuit breaker to your setup for reliable switching and fault protection.
