Blue Sea 600VAC 30A 9009 Rotary Switch OFF + 2 Position
Blue Sea 600VAC 30A 9009 Rotary Switch OFF + 2 Position
Blue Sea 9009 2-Pole AC Source Selector for 120V/230V Systems

DESCRIPTION
Reliable AC Power Source Selection for Marine and Off-Grid Systems
Heavy-Duty 2-Pole Rotary Switch for Seamless AC Management
Managing multiple alternating current (AC) power sources requires a dependable, fail-safe switching mechanism. The Blue Sea Systems 9009 Rotary Switch offers a compact, industrial-rated solution for safely routing two separate 120V or 230V AC power sources into a single load circuit. Whether you are transitioning between shore power and an onboard generator on a marine vessel, or switching between grid power and an inverter in an off-grid cabin or RV, this rotary switch ensures total isolation and intuitive control.
Designed specifically for installations where circuit protection is already provided upstream, this unit eliminates unnecessary bulk on your main control panel. Its break-before-make design prevents the catastrophic risk of back-feeding power into an active generator, inverter, or the utility grid, protecting both your sensitive electronics and your power generation equipment.
Key Features and Benefits
- Dual AC Source Switching: Effortlessly connects one of two distinct AC power sources (such as Shore Power and Generator) to a single output circuit.
- True 2-Pole Isolation: Simultaneously switches both active (hot) and neutral conductors, a critical safety requirement for marine and mobile AC installations to prevent dangerous ground faults and stray currents.
- Industrial-Grade Durability: Built to handle up to 30A and rated to a maximum of 600V AC, providing substantial safety margins for standard 120V and 230V AC applications.
- Compact Footprint: Ideal for tight electrical enclosures and custom switchboards where upstream circuit breakers are already installed.
- Intuitive One-Handed Operation: Features an ergonomic black rotary handle with a high-visibility white position indicator for unmistakable status checks at a glance.
- Installer-Friendly Design: Accommodates panel thicknesses up to 0.16" (Approx. 4.00mm) and includes engraved terminal identifiers and circuit diagrams on the multi-deck switch body to simplify complex wiring.
- UL Listed: Independently tested and certified to meet stringent safety and operational standards.
Why Upgrade to an Industrial-Rated Rotary Switch?
In demanding marine, RV, and off-grid environments, standard switches often suffer from contact wear, arcing, and heat build-up when subjected to high inductive loads like air conditioners, water heaters, and battery chargers. A lower-grade switch can weld its contacts shut or fail to fully isolate the neutral line, creating severe safety hazards.
The Blue Sea 9009 rotary switch mitigates these risks through a robust multi-deck housing containing heavy-duty integrated contact blocks. By positively breaking the connection to the first power source (passing through the central OFF position) before engaging the second source, it completely removes the risk of phase collisions and equipment damage. Please note that because this unit is a dedicated isolation and selector switch, appropriate overcurrent protection (such as double-pole AC circuit breakers) must be installed elsewhere in the circuit.
Versatile Applications
Engineered to thrive in harsh conditions, this rotary selector switch is widely trusted across a variety of technical applications:
- Marine Electrical Systems: Safely switch the vessel's main AC distribution bus between dockside shore power and an auxiliary marine generator.
- Caravans, RVs, and Motorhomes: Transition smoothly between caravan park mains power and an onboard inverter or portable generator.
- Off-Grid and Backup Power: Act as a manual transfer switch for small cabins, remote workstations, or industrial service vehicles utilising dual AC inputs.
Upgrade Your AC Power Control Today
Ensure safe, compliant, and effortless transitions between your primary and auxiliary power supplies. Add this heavy-duty 30A rotary source selector switch to your electrical system for dependable AC management on the water or off the grid.
