Blue Sea 300A AC/50mA AC M2 Coil AC Current Transformer
Blue Sea 300A AC/50mA AC M2 Coil AC Current Transformer
Non-Intrusive Pass-Through Sensing with Flanged Base & Screw Terminals

DESCRIPTION
Precision AC Current Sensing for Marine and Off-Grid Electrical Systems
Managing high-capacity alternating current in marine vessels, motorhomes, and off-grid power architectures requires reliable, non-intrusive measurement. The Blue Sea Systems M2 Coil AC Current Transformer is engineered to safely step down a primary 300A AC load into a manageable, proportional 50mA AC signal. This precise transformation ratio allows compatible digital monitoring systems, particularly the Blue Sea Systems M2 OLED Digital Monitor series, to accurately track AC amperage without routing heavy-gauge, high-voltage conductors directly to the display panel.
By isolating the primary AC load from the instrumentation circuit, this current transformer significantly reduces the risk of electrical hazards at the helm or control board. It eliminates the voltage drop and heat generation associated with inline resistive shunts, providing a safer and more efficient method for monitoring generators, shore power inlets, and heavy-duty inverter outputs.
Engineered for Secure, Vibration-Resistant Installation
Unlike standard commercial-grade sensors that can fail in mobile or coastal environments, this Blue Sea Systems current transformer is constructed to withstand the rigours of marine and automotive applications. The unit features a robust black housing with an integrated flanged mounting base, complete with pre-cut slots for secure surface installation inside switchboards, distribution panels, or inverter enclosures.
- Defined 300A AC to 50mA AC Ratio: Delivers a linear, stepped-down secondary signal tailored for M2 AC ammeters and digital multimeters.
- Non-Intrusive Central Aperture: The large circular opening easily accommodates heavy-duty primary AC conductor cables without cutting or splicing the main power line.
- Secure Screw Terminals: Heavy-duty screw-down terminal points ensure vibration-resistant connections for the 50mA secondary signal wires, preventing signal dropout in rough seas or corrugated off-road conditions.
- Integrated Flanged Base: Allows for rigid bulkhead or panel mounting, keeping the sensor firmly in place around the primary conductor.
- Permanent Technical Labelling: Clearly marked with the transformation ratio and current rating on the housing for straightforward identification during installation and future system maintenance.
Why Choose a Dedicated M2 Current Transformer?
Accurate load management is critical when operating high-output AC appliances from limited energy sources like marine generators or off-grid inverter chargers. Using an improperly matched sensor can lead to skewed amperage readings, resulting in tripped circuit breakers, overloaded generators, or unexpected system shutdowns. This purpose-built current transformer ensures seamless calibration with M2 series monitors, giving system operators the confidence to balance AC loads effectively.
Whether you are commissioning a new commercial vessel, upgrading a caravan electrical distribution board, or building a custom off-grid cabin power system, this component provides the electrical isolation and measurement accuracy required for professional-grade AC monitoring.
