Blue Sea 250A C-Series Triple-Pole Flat Rocker Circuit Breaker

DESCRIPTION

High-Amperage Switching and Overcurrent Protection for Demanding Electrical Systems

Managing high-current circuits in marine, off-grid, and heavy-duty vehicle setups requires uncompromising reliability. The Blue Sea C-Series 250A Triple-Pole Flat Rocker Circuit Breaker integrates seamless ON/OFF manual switching with dependable overcurrent protection in a single, compact panel-mounted unit. Specifically engineered to handle substantial inductive and resistive loads, this heavy-duty breaker is an essential component for safeguarding large power inverters, marine bow thrusters, and electric windlasses.

By combining switching and circuit protection into one device, system builders can simplify wiring layouts, reduce panel space requirements, and eliminate the need for separate high-amperage battery switches and external fuse blocks. Unlike standard inline fuses that require spare parts and tools to replace after a fault, this resettable circuit breaker allows you to restore power safely and quickly once the underlying electrical issue is resolved.

Engineered for Safety: Trip-Free and Flush Rocker Design

When protecting circuits carrying up to 250A, operational safety is paramount. This C-Series breaker incorporates an internal trip-free mechanism, a critical safety feature ensuring the internal contacts cannot be manually held closed during an active overcurrent fault. If an electrical overload or short circuit persists, the breaker will trip internally even if the external actuator is physically held in the ON position, mitigating the risk of severe cable overheating, equipment damage, or electrical fires.

For daily usability in dynamic environments like boat helms, 4WD canopies, and caravan electrical lockers, the ergonomic flat rocker actuator is designed to sit completely flush with the mounting bezel when in the ON position. This low-profile geometry prevents accidental switching caused by bumps, snagged clothing, or shifting gear. When the circuit is manually switched off or automatically trips due to a fault, a high-visibility white colour segment on the actuator clearly indicates the OFF state for immediate visual diagnostics.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Dual-Function Operation: Combines heavy-duty 250A circuit protection and manual ON/OFF isolation into a single panel-mounted footprint.
  • Paralleled Triple-Pole Architecture: Utilises three internal poles bussed together in parallel to reliably share and manage high-amperage DC loads.
  • Flush-Mount Flat Rocker: Actuator sits flush in the ON position to eliminate the risk of inadvertent circuit interruption in tight spaces.
  • Fail-Safe Trip-Free Design: Internal mechanism trips independently of the external rocker, preventing operators from forcing a live fault circuit closed.
  • Heavy-Duty Bus Termination: Paralleled poles terminate to a robust 5/16-inch (approx. 7.9mm / M8) stud on the bus, accommodating heavy-gauge cable lugs for low-resistance connections.
  • Clear Visual Status: High-contrast colour actuator segment provides instant confirmation when the circuit is OFF or tripped.
  • Precision Panel Mounting: Equipped with brass threaded inserts for secure, vibration-resistant front-panel installation.

Built for High-Load Marine and Off-Grid Applications

High-draw appliances demand robust termination points to prevent voltage drop and thermal buildup at the connection interface. The paralleled poles of the BS-7477B feature a heavy-duty 5/16-inch (approx. 7.9mm / M8) terminal stud on the busbar, engineered to securely land large battery and inverter cables. Furthermore, the precision brass threaded mounting points ensure the unit remains firmly anchored to your switchboard or distribution panel, even when subjected to harsh marine pounding or corrugated off-road tracks.

Whether you are commissioning a commercial vessel, upgrading a catamaran's thruster system, or building a high-capacity lithium battery bank for an off-grid motorhome, this Blue Sea Systems circuit breaker delivers professional-grade circuit management:

  • Inverter Protection: Safely isolate and protect high-wattage DC-to-AC power inverters in caravans, RVs, and tiny homes.
  • Marine Propulsion & Anchoring: Ideal primary protection for high-surge bow thrusters, stern thrusters, and heavy anchor windlasses.
  • Winch & Hydraulic Systems: Reliable overcurrent defence for industrial winches, hydraulic pumps, and auxiliary vehicle equipment.
  • Battery Bank Isolation: Acts as a dependable main circuit breaker and master disconnect switch for high-output alternator and battery setups.

Upgrade Your High-Current Circuit Protection

Equip your electrical distribution panel with the Blue Sea C-Series 250A Triple-Pole Flat Rocker Circuit Breaker for safe, resettable, and space-saving power management. Add this heavy-duty breaker to your system build today to protect your critical high-load equipment.
