Blue Sea 16A A-Series Double Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker Black
Blue Sea 16A A-Series Double Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker Black
Magnetic-Hydraulic AC Main Protection - Trip-Free - ABYC & UL

DESCRIPTION
Reliable AC Main Circuit Protection and Switching
The Blue Sea A-Series 16A Double-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker (BS-7348B) is engineered to provide uncompromising protection and manual switching for AC main electrical panels. In marine, caravan, and off-grid power architectures, isolating both the active (hot) and neutral conductors simultaneously is critical for system safety. By combining reliable manual switching with precision overcurrent protection in a single compact unit, this double-pole breaker streamlines panel layouts while reducing the need for separate isolation switches and fuse holders.
Advanced Magnetic-Hydraulic Operation
Unlike standard thermal circuit breakers that rely on heat-sensitive bimetallic strips, this A-Series model utilises a sophisticated magnetic-hydraulic mechanism. Standard thermal units can suffer from nuisance tripping in hot engine bays, enclosed electrical cabinets, or high-temperature Australian climates because ambient heat affects their trip threshold. A magnetic-hydraulic breaker senses only the actual electrical current flowing through the coil, ensuring consistent 16A overcurrent protection regardless of ambient temperature fluctuations.
Engineered for Safety: Trip-Free and Mechanically Linked
When managing AC shore power, inverter outputs, or onboard generator feeds, complete isolation during a fault is essential. The double-pole body features mechanically linked toggles, ensuring that if an overload or short circuit occurs on either line, both poles trip simultaneously. This prevents dangerous scenarios where a neutral fault leaves the active line energised, or where reverse polarity from an external AC source creates a shock hazard.
Additionally, the internal mechanism features a trip-free design. In the event of a fault-current condition, the breaker will trip open and cannot be manually held in the ON position. This vital safety feature protects wiring, downstream appliances, and operators by preventing the circuit from being forced live while an unresolved electrical fault persists.
Key Features & Benefits
- Simultaneous Double-Pole Isolation: Mechanically linked switches disconnect both conductors at once, making it the industry standard for AC main circuit protection.
- Magnetic-Hydraulic Reliability: Combines manual switching and overcurrent protection into one device that is unaffected by high ambient temperatures.
- Trip-Free Safety Mechanism: Cannot be physically held in the ON position during a fault condition, mitigating fire and equipment damage risks.
- Panel-Ready Construction: Features integrated threaded inserts for secure front-panel mounting and a high-visibility 16A rating clearly marked on each black toggle face.
- Global Compliance & Certification: Meets strict ABYC marine standards and is UL 1077 recognised, TUV certified, CE marked, and CSA certified for international electrical compliance.
