Stäubli MC4 10mm² Evo 2 Solar Connector Pair

DESCRIPTION

Stäubli MC4 Evo 2 10mm² Solar Connectors: High-Performance Photovoltaic Couplers

Industry-Leading Reliability for High-Current Solar Systems

When constructing a photovoltaic array, the integrity of your DC connections is paramount. The Stäubli MC4 Evo 2 10mm² Solar Connector Pair delivers an exceptional standard of performance, designed for the higher current demands of modern solar installations. Suitable for 10mm² / 8 AWG solar cable, these genuine Stäubli MC4 connectors are rated for up to 1500V DC and are an excellent choice for commercial, residential and high-current off-grid solar systems. Using genuine Stäubli connectors helps minimise connection losses and reduces the risk of overheating and DC connection failures associated with inferior or incompatible connectors.

Advanced MULTILAM Contact Technology

At the core of the MC4 Evo 2 connector is Stäubli's proprietary MULTILAM contact technology. This proven contact system maintains reliable electrical contact between mating surfaces, resulting in exceptionally low contact resistance of less than 0.2 mΩ. This minimises power loss and heat generation, providing excellent electrical and thermal performance over the service life of the installation.

Engineered for Harsh Australian Environments

Solar installations are frequently exposed to demanding environmental conditions. The MC4 Evo 2 is designed for use in harsh environments, with UV-resistant construction and an IP65/IP68 ingress protection rating when mated. The connector system is also tested for ammonia resistance and salt-mist environments, making it well suited to exposed, coastal and agricultural solar installations. The high-grade polyamide (PA) insulation material also meets the stringent UL94-V0 flammability classification.

Designed Specifically for 10mm² / 8 AWG Solar Cable

This MC4 Evo 2A/10II connector pair is specifically designed for 10mm² photovoltaic cable, approximately equivalent to 8 AWG. The /10II version accepts cables with an outer diameter of 6.4mm to 8.4mm and uses a 6.5mm crimp opening. Under IEC 62852, the connector is rated to 69A at 1500V DC with 10mm² cable, while the corresponding UL 6703 rating is 70A at 1500V DC for 8 AWG cable. The crimp termination provides a secure, low-resistance electrical and mechanical connection when assembled using suitable tooling.

Reducing Installation Risks

Using generic, incompatible or mismatched connectors in a photovoltaic installation can increase contact resistance and create potential hot spots or DC arc faults. By using genuine Stäubli MC4 Evo 2 components, installers can maintain compatibility within the Stäubli MC4 connector family and achieve a secure, weather-resistant connection. Correct crimping and assembly are essential to achieving the connector's specified electrical and environmental performance.
