Simarine Quad Shunt Mod 4x 50A Input Current & 1x Relay Output 1A

DESCRIPTION

Simarine SCQ50 Active Current Sensor for PICO Monitoring Systems

The Simarine SCQ50 is an advanced active shunt module designed to seamlessly integrate with your PICO battery monitor. Engineered for 12V and 24V DC systems, this quad shunt allows you to individually track the current draw or charge of up to four separate circuits simultaneously. Whether you are managing marine electronics, RV appliances, or off-grid solar inputs, this module provides precise real-time data to help you optimise your power usage.

Multi-Channel DC Monitoring

Managing complex 12V and 24V electrical systems requires accurate visibility across multiple devices. Generic battery monitors only show total net current, which can hide parasitic draws or underperforming charge sources. Rather than relying on a single overall battery shunt, this quad module features four independent current measuring channels. Each channel can monitor continuous currents up to 50A, with a peak capacity of 60A for short surges. This makes it highly suitable for tracking dedicated loads like 12V refrigerators, water pumps, and lighting circuits, or independently monitoring incoming charge from solar panels and DC-DC chargers. Identifying exactly where your power is going reduces the risk of unexpected flat batteries while travelling.

Integrated Relay Output for Automated Control

Beyond monitoring, the SCQ50 offers integrated control capabilities through a configurable 1A monostable relay output. This relay features Common (COM), Normally Open (NO), and Normally Closed (NC) connections. When paired with the PICO monitor, you can automate specific actions based on battery state or current flow. For example, you can configure the system to trigger a low-voltage alarm or automatically disconnect a non-essential load when battery capacity drops below a critical threshold, effectively reducing the risk of deep discharge.

Simplified Installation and SiCOM Integration

Integrating the shunt into your existing setup is straightforward. The module connects directly to the Simarine SiCOM digital data bus via dual RJ9 sockets, providing reliable communication without complex wiring. Its compact footprint (182 x 80 x 37 mm) and robust mounting tabs ensure secure installation within tight battery compartments or dedicated electrical switchboards. By centralising your sensor wiring, you can maintain a clean, professional aesthetic in your caravan or boat.

Installer Responsibilities and System Design

SIMARINE products are commonly installed, connected, programmed, configured or integrated into a broader electrical system, vehicle, vessel, caravan, motorhome, camper, canopy, switch panel, battery system or monitoring network. Once installed, the product may form only one component of a larger system.

We do not provide installation services unless expressly stated in writing, and we do not supervise or control installation practices carried out by dealers, installers, contractors or end-users. The installer, system designer, integrator, dealer or end-user is responsible for ensuring that the product is suitable for the intended application and is installed correctly.

Issues or damage arising from incorrect installation, poor system design, incorrect configuration, incompatible equipment, inadequate protection, unsuitable mounting, unsuitable environmental conditions or failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions are not product defects and are not covered by this warranty.

Appropriate Installation

All SIMARINE products must be installed in accordance with the product manual, the manufacturer's installation instructions, applicable Australian Standards, relevant electrical, automotive, marine or industry standards, and recognised industry best practice.

The installer must ensure that the product is used in an appropriate environment and within its specified ratings. Improper, unsafe, unlicensed, sub-standard or non-compliant installation may void or limit warranty coverage.

Where relevant, the installer must allow for heat dissipation, ventilation, moisture exposure, dust, vibration, corrosion risk, electrical clearance, mechanical loading, access for inspection and service, and protection from unsuitable environmental conditions.

Damage caused by unsuitable mounting, inadequate ventilation, moisture, water ingress, dust, corrosion, excessive heat, vibration, insufficient clearance, unsuitable substrate selection or other installation environment issues is not a manufacturing defect and is not covered by this warranty.

System Protection and Fault Isolation

The installer must incorporate suitable protective devices and design measures appropriate to the product and installation type. This may include correctly rated fuses, circuit breakers, isolators, over-current protection, over-voltage protection, low-voltage protection, surge protection, correct cable sizing and other protective devices required by standards or best practice.

The installer is responsible for ensuring that a fault or failure in one component does not cause cascading damage to other components. Damage to SIMARINE products caused by inadequate system protection, poor fault isolation, incorrect protection settings or missing safety devices is not covered by this warranty.

Service Accessibility Requirement

Products must be installed in a manner that allows reasonable access for inspection, testing, servicing, removal and replacement. We are not responsible for additional labour, structural modification, access equipment, removal of fixtures, cabinetry, panels, flooring, trim, sealants, adhesives or other costs arising from installation methods that restrict reasonable access to the product.
