Genasun 8A MPPT 24V Voltage Boost (28.4V Lithium) Solar Charge Controller

DESCRIPTION

Genasun GVB-8-Li-28.4V: 8A MPPT Boost Solar Charge Controller for 24V Lithium Batteries

Advanced MPPT Boost Technology for Efficient 24V Lithium Charging from Lower Voltage Panels

The Genasun GVB-8-Li-28.4V is a high-performance MPPT boost solar charge controller engineered to charge 24V lithium battery banks from solar panels with a lower voltage output. Unlike conventional controllers that step down voltage, this unit employs a sophisticated boost topology to elevate panel voltage, enabling the use of larger, more cost-effective panels. This approach reduces overall system cost while maximising energy harvest in space-constrained installations such as caravans, marine vessels, and remote off-grid sites.

Designed for mission-critical reliability, Genasun controllers are trusted in the world's most demanding environments—from Antarctic research stations to high-altitude solar aircraft. Each unit is manufactured in the USA and undergoes comprehensive electrical testing to ensure dependable operation when it matters most.

High-Speed MPPT: 15Hz Tracking for Dynamic Conditions

Standard MPPT controllers often use a slow "sweep and sleep" algorithm, scanning the panel's power curve every 30–60 seconds. This is adequate for stationary panels under clear skies but falls short in mobile or variable weather scenarios. The Genasun GVB-8 features a 15Hz MPPT tracking speed, adjusting to changing irradiance 15 times per second. This rapid response captures more energy during cloud transients, shading, and when panels are mounted on moving vehicles, delivering up to 99%+ tracking efficiency.

Optimised for 24V Lithium Systems

Pre-configured for 24V lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries with a constant voltage of 28.4V, this controller implements a precise CC-CV (Constant Current – Constant Voltage) charge profile. The advanced computer-controlled algorithm ensures safe, full charges that extend battery lifespan and maintain capacity. With an electrical efficiency of 96–98% typical, minimal energy is lost during conversion, maximising the power delivered to your battery.

Built for Harsh Environments

The GVB-8 is fully encapsulated in a rugged, waterproof housing, making it suitable for marine, coastal, and high-humidity installations. It operates reliably across a wide temperature range and includes essential protections against over-current, over-temperature, and reverse polarity. The fanless, potted design eliminates moving parts that can fail, ensuring silent, maintenance-free operation for years.

  • Boost MPPT topology charges 24V batteries from panels with Vmp as low as 5V
  • 15Hz high-speed tracking adapts to changing light in milliseconds
  • Waterproof, potted enclosure resists moisture, salt spray, and vibration
  • Pre-set for 24V lithium with 28.4V CV and CC-CV charging profile
  • 96–98% typical efficiency reduces thermal stress and energy loss
  • Low night consumption of just 6mA preserves battery charge
  • Wide panel compatibility supports up to 350W with 8A input current

Cost-Effective System Design

By allowing a single large panel to charge a higher voltage battery, the boost controller eliminates the need for multiple smaller panels wired in series. Larger panels typically have a lower cost per watt, so this approach can significantly reduce your total system expenditure while simplifying wiring and mounting. The GVB-8 accepts a maximum panel power of 350W (with ~155mm cells) and an absolute maximum Voc of 63V, providing flexibility in panel selection.

Applications

Ideal for caravan solar systems, marine battery charging, remote telemetry, and any off-grid installation where panel voltage is lower than battery voltage. Its compact, lightweight design and waterproof construction make it particularly suited to mobile and exposed environments.

Upgrade Your Off-Grid Power System

Equip your installation with the Genasun GVB-8-Li-28.4V MPPT boost controller for reliable, efficient charging in the toughest conditions. Order today and experience the difference that high-speed MPPT and rugged engineering can make in your energy system.
