Genasun 25V 8A GVB-8 Li MPPT Boost Solar Charge Controller
Genasun 25V 8A GVB-8 Li MPPT Boost Solar Charge Controller
A compact voltage-boosting MPPT controller for charging 6S lithium battery systems from lower-voltage solar panels.

DESCRIPTION
Genasun 25V 8A GVB-8 Li MPPT Boost Solar Charge Controller
The Genasun GVB-8 Li 25.0V is a compact MPPT boost solar charge controller designed for systems where the solar panel voltage is lower than the lithium battery voltage. It is well suited to specialised 24V nominal, 6S lithium battery applications using a lower-voltage solar module, helping simplify panel selection without moving to a higher-voltage solar string.
This model is configured for a 25.0V CC/CV lithium charge profile and is identified by Genasun for 24V, 6S Lithium Cobalt/Manganese/Nickel batteries. The official Genasun Europe product listing also identifies the battery type as lithium and the cell configuration as LiCoO₂/LiPo 6S. Battery compatibility should be checked against the battery manufacturer’s charge voltage and charging limits, as Genasun specifies that Li controllers use the CC/CV charging profile indicated on the controller.
At the solar input, the GVB-8-Li-25.0V is rated for 8A panel input and supports a maximum recommended panel power of 210W with a maximum recommended panel Vmp of 20V. That makes it a practical choice for small off-grid, portable, marine, RV, micro-mobility and remote power systems where a standard lower-voltage panel is preferred but the battery requires a higher charging voltage.
- Voltage-boosting MPPT design: Allows a lower-voltage solar panel to charge a higher-voltage lithium battery system.
- 25.0V lithium charge profile: Configured for a 6S lithium battery using a CC/CV charge profile.
- 8A panel input: Supports compact solar arrays with a maximum recommended 210W panel power for this model.
- Fast MPPT response: Genasun specifies a 15Hz MPPT tracking speed for the GVB-8 range.
- Compact enclosure: The controller measures 13.7 cm x 6.2 cm x 3.3 cm and weighs 185 g.
- Built-in status LED: Provides charging, standby, charged and fault indication at the controller.
The GVB-8 range is designed around Genasun’s high-speed MPPT technology. Rather than relying on slow periodic sweeps, the controller tracks the maximum power point continuously enough to respond to changing light, partial shade and vehicle or marine movement. The datasheet specifies 99+% typical tracking efficiency and 15Hz MPPT tracking speed, with typical electrical efficiency for the lithium variants listed by model.
Installation is via a 4-position terminal block accepting 10 to 30 AWG copper conductors. Genasun specifies that loads should connect directly to the battery rather than the GVB-8, as the controller does not provide over-discharge protection. The manual also specifies the use of a fast-acting fuse or circuit breaker of 10A or less close to the battery terminal or power distribution block.
The enclosure is listed as IP40 and the manual states not to expose this standard GVB-8 model to water. For installations where water resistance is required, Genasun directs users to the GVB-8-WP waterproof version. For suitable indoor or protected installations, the Genasun GVB-8-Li-25.0V provides a neat, efficient way to harvest solar from a lower-voltage panel into a 25.0V 6S lithium battery system.
