Adding Balmar multi-stage regulation no longer requires replacing the entire stock alternator. The Balmar Smart Ready 12V kit (B-30-SR12-02) is for owners of recent production Yanmar marine engines fitted with the factory 120A/12V Valeo alternator. It replaces the alternator's internal regulator so the alternator can accept Balmar's external multi-stage regulation, while retaining the original alternator. Balmar states this halves the cost of adding Balmar multi-stage regulation.

What's Included and What You Also Need

This kit contains the Smart Ready replacement internal regulator and a replacement cover only. To get multi-stage charging you also need a Balmar external multi-stage regulator, such as the MC-618, with its wiring harness, sold separately. Balmar MC-TS-A alternator and MC-TS-B battery temperature sensors are also sold separately.
