Blue Sea WeatherDeck DPDT ON-OFF-ON Toggle Switch
Blue Sea WeatherDeck DPDT ON-OFF-ON Toggle Switch
Blue Sea 4155 Marine Grade Switch for 12V/24V Nav & Anchor Lights

DESCRIPTION
Heavy-Duty Marine Grade DPDT Toggle Switch for WeatherDeck Panels
Engineered for demanding marine and off-grid environments, the Blue Sea Systems 4155 WeatherDeck Toggle Switch delivers dependable circuit control where moisture, salt spray, and vibration are constant challenges. Specially manufactured by Carling Technologies for seamless integration into Blue Sea Systems WeatherDeck panels, this Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) switch provides versatile three-position ON-OFF-ON operation for complex DC electrical systems.
Whether you are fitting out a commercial vessel, upgrading a recreational boat helm, or building a weatherproof electrical control panel for a 4WD canopy, selecting the right switching hardware is critical. Standard automotive switches often fail prematurely when exposed to coastal air or damp conditions, leading to voltage drop, intermittent faults, or complete circuit failure. By contrast, the 4155 switch is built from the ground up to resist corrosion and maintain solid electrical continuity over years of service.
Key Features and Technical Benefits
- DPDT ON-OFF-ON Configuration: Features a six-terminal layout capable of controlling two independent circuits simultaneously, making it ideal for combining navigation lights and anchor lights with a shared bulb.
- Superior Marine Construction: Built with nickel-plated brass and a heat-resistant phenolic body to prevent rust, galvanic corrosion, and thermal degradation.
- IP67 Ingress Protection Capable: Achieves an IP67 rating for temporary immersion up to 30 minutes when installed alongside a compatible WeatherDeck Toggle Switch Boot.
- Fast, Secure Termination: Equipped with rear-facing 0.25 in (approx. 6.35mm) quick-connect tab terminals for straightforward wiring with standard female spade connectors.
- Manufactured by Carling Technologies: Produced by an industry leader in electrical switching to meet rigorous marine standards for mechanical and electrical longevity.
Solving Complex Wiring Challenges with DPDT Functionality
A Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) switch is essentially two separate switches housed within a single body, operated by one heavy-duty metal bat lever. In the centre OFF position, all circuits are isolated. Pushing the lever to either ON position engages a distinct set of terminals. On marine vessels, this specific architecture solves a very common wiring dilemma: operating combined navigation and anchor lighting systems.
With a standard single-pole switch, attempting to run running lights (steaming, stern, and side lights) in one position and an anchor light alone in another position often requires external diodes to prevent back-feeding across the circuits. The Blue Sea Systems 4155 eliminates this complexity. Its internal dual-pole isolation allows you to wire the anchor light and navigation lights cleanly on separate poles, activating both when underway and isolating just the anchor light when moored, all from a single toggle.
Built to Withstand Harsh Australian Conditions
Electrical panels in open centre-console boats, flybridges, and external caravan lockers face severe environmental stress. To reduce the risk of water ingress and short circuits, this switch features a threaded mounting bushing with a hex nut for secure through-panel installation. Please note that to achieve the full IP67 waterproof rating, this switch must be mounted with a Blue Sea Systems WeatherDeck Toggle Switch Boot (sold separately, unless replacing an existing switch where the boot is still intact).
Rated for systems up to 30V DC and 5A, it is compatible with both 12V and 24V DC electrical architectures. For loads exceeding 5A, the switch can easily be used as a reliable trigger for a heavy-duty relay or solenoid.
