Blue Sea Submersible Temperature Sensor
Blue Sea Submersible Temperature Sensor
IP68 Waterproof Housing with Non-Polarised Leads & Tape Mount

DESCRIPTION
Reliable Waterproof Thermal Monitoring for Marine and Off-Grid Systems
Maintaining optimal operating temperatures is critical for the longevity and safety of your electrical and mechanical systems. The Blue Sea Submersible Temperature Sensor is engineered to provide accurate, continuous thermal feedback in environments where moisture, condensation, or complete water immersion are constant factors. Designed specifically to integrate with compatible Blue Sea Systems monitoring devices, this sensor allows you to track temperatures across battery banks, bilge compartments, engine rooms, and holding tanks with confidence.
Engineered for Harsh Environments
Standard temperature probes often fail when exposed to high humidity, salt spray, or bilge water, leading to corroded connections and inaccurate readings. This unit features a fully sealed, IP68-rated waterproof housing capable of withstanding continuous submersion. In addition to its sealed sensing head, the unit incorporates a moulded strain relief where the cable meets the housing. This crucial design element protects the internal wiring from tension, vibration, and accidental snags common in mobile RVs, 4WDs, and marine vessels.
Key Features and Benefits
- IP68 Submersible Rating: Completely sealed against dust and capable of continuous immersion in water, making it ideal for wet bilges and exterior compartments.
- Non-Polarised Wiring: The two-wire cable can be connected in either order, eliminating polarity errors and simplifying the installation process.
- Integrated Strain Relief: Moulded cable protection prevents internal wire fatigue caused by vessel movement or tight routing pathways.
- Adhesive Mounting: Supplied with heavy-duty double-sided tape for fast, non-invasive surface attachment without the need to drill into sensitive enclosures.
- Seamless Integration: Built specifically to match the resistance curves expected by Blue Sea Systems digital monitors and thermal meters.
Simplified, Error-Free Installation
Installing thermal monitoring in tight spaces like battery boxes or behind instrument panels can be challenging. This sensor removes common installation hurdles through its non-polarised dual-wire design. Installers do not need to worry about positive or negative orientation when terminating the leads to the compatible monitor; the wires can be connected in either order while maintaining accurate signal transmission. Furthermore, the included double-sided tape allows for immediate, secure mounting directly onto battery casings, tank walls, or bulkhead surfaces.
Applications and Risk Reduction
Integrating an environmental and component temperature sensor into your 12V, 24V, or 48V electrical setup significantly reduces the risk of undetected thermal events. By pairing this probe with a compatible Blue Sea Systems monitor, operators can closely observe battery bank temperatures during heavy charging cycles, monitor ambient engine room heat, or check water temperatures in livewells. Unlike unsealed sensors that degrade rapidly in coastal conditions, the robust construction of the BS-1820 ensures dependable data collection over the lifespan of your system.
