Blue Sea SPST OFF-(ON) Grey Contura Switch
Blue Sea SPST OFF-(ON) Grey Contura Switch
Ignition Protected Momentary Marine Rocker Switch - UL 1500 & ISO 8846

DESCRIPTION
Reliable Momentary Control for Marine and Off-Grid Electrical Panels
Engineered for Harsh Environments and Water-Resistant Dashboards
The Blue Sea Systems SPST OFF-(ON) Grey Contura Switch is purpose-built to deliver dependable momentary circuit control in demanding marine, automotive, and off-grid applications. Designed specifically for seamless integration into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant panels, this switch provides tactile, responsive operation when you need temporary power activation. Note that parentheses in the OFF-(ON) rating indicate a momentary position, meaning the actuator springs back to the OFF state as soon as pressure is released.
Standard electrical switches often fail prematurely when exposed to coastal air, heavy vibrations, or sudden temperature shifts. This marine-grade Contura rocker switch overcomes those common failure points through specialised engineering and robust sealing. Whether you are outfitting a new centre console boat, upgrading a caravan control board, or wiring a 4WD canopy, it ensures your critical accessories engage reliably every time.
Certified Ignition Protection for Maximum Safety
When wiring electrical components aboard petrol-powered vessels or near fuel storage areas, mitigating the risk of stray sparks is critical. This switch is fully ignition protected, meeting strict UL 1500 and ISO 8846 standards. The sealed mounting body prevents internal electrical arcs from igniting surrounding flammable vapours, making it safe for installation in boat bilges, engine compartments, and enclosed utility spaces.
Built to Withstand the Elements
Constructed with a flexible mounting gasket and a rugged thermoplastic housing, this momentary rocker switch actively resists moisture ingress and corrosive salt spray. Its internal mechanism is engineered to endure constant mechanical stress, offering exceptional resistance to vibration and shock when travelling over rough seas or corrugated outback tracks. It also withstands thermoshock, maintaining structural and electrical integrity across rapid temperature fluctuations.
- Momentary OFF-(ON) Operation: Ideal for circuits requiring temporary engagement such as horns, windlasses, bilge pump overrides, or engine starters.
- Certified Ignition Protection: Complies with UL 1500 and ISO 8846 requirements for safe installation aboard petrol-powered boats.
- Environmental Resilience: Tested to resist salt spray, moisture, thermoshock, and heavy vibration in exposed helm stations or off-road vehicles.
- Ergonomic Grey Actuator: Features a Contura-style textured grip for confident, slip-free operation in wet conditions.
- Seamless Panel Integration: Locks securely into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant custom and pre-configured panels using standard rear terminal blades.
Versatile Applications for Momentary Switching
A Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) momentary switch is an essential component for any custom dashboard or power distribution panel. Because the circuit only remains closed while the operator holds the actuator down, it prevents accidental continuous operation of high-draw or temporary-use equipment. Common applications include:
- Marine Vessels: Activating marine horns, screen washers, trim tabs, or manual bilge pump tests.
- 4WD and Automotive: Controlling air compressor purge valves, starter relays, or auxiliary warning signals.
- Industrial and Off-Grid: Momentary reset switches for inverters, generator start circuits, or system diagnostics.
