Blue Sea SPDT ON-ON Contura rocker switch with red battery indicator and black textured actuator

Blue Sea SPDT ON/ON Contura Switch

DESCRIPTION

Heavy-Duty Two-Position SPDT Circuit Control for Harsh Environments

The Blue Sea SPDT ON/ON Contura Switch is engineered to provide dependable, two-position circuit control in demanding marine, automotive, and off-grid electrical systems. Featuring a Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) configuration with two active ON states, this rocker switch allows a single common input to seamlessly alternate between two distinct circuit paths. It is an ideal component for systems that require a constant selection between two operating states without a centre off position, such as switching between dual battery monitoring banks, alternating between primary and secondary bilge pumps, or selecting different lighting modes in a 4WD canopy.

Engineered for Extreme Environmental Resistance

Standard consumer-grade switches often fail prematurely when exposed to the elements, leading to corroded contacts, voltage drop, or complete circuit failure when you are miles offshore or deep in the outback. Blue Sea Systems designs the Contura series specifically to mitigate these risks. This switch is rigorously tested to resist vibration, shock, thermoshock, moisture, and salt spray.

Whether mounted on an exposed boat flybridge, an open centre console, or the dashboard of an off-road touring vehicle, this switch maintains reliable electrical continuity. Its resilience against thermoshock ensures the housing and internal mechanisms will not crack or warp during rapid temperature fluctuations, while its salt spray resistance prevents internal terminal degradation in corrosive coastal environments.

Ergonomic Design and Seamless Panel Integration

Built for practical operation in dynamic conditions, the switch features a distinctive dual-textured actuator. The upper section comprises a red rocker clearly marked with a white battery symbol and "ON" text for immediate visual identification, while the lower section features a black textured finish that provides tactile grip for ergonomic switching, even with wet or gloved hands.

Installation is straightforward thanks to the standard Contura style snap-in bezel, which locks securely into compatible mounting panels and water-resistant dash panels. The rear-mounted spade terminals allow for clean, secure electrical connections using standard female blade connectors, simplifying both new custom panel builds and retrofits.

Key Features and Benefits

  • SPDT ON/ON Configuration: Provides two active switch positions, allowing one pole to reliably toggle between two separate circuit outputs.
  • Marine-Grade Durability: Explicitly rated to withstand moisture and salt spray, reducing the risk of corrosion in coastal and marine applications.
  • Mechanical Resilience: High resistance to continuous vibration and physical shock makes it well suited for rough corrugated roads and choppy waters.
  • Thermoshock Protection: Engineered to endure rapid temperature changes without compromising structural or electrical integrity.
  • Tactile Actuator Design: Combines a high-visibility red upper rocker (with battery icon) and a textured black lower rocker for confident, non-slip operation.
  • Standardised Mounting: Features a snap-in bezel for easy integration into Blue Sea Systems Contura panels and standard rectangular dashboard cutouts.

Ideal Applications

This versatile rocker switch is suited for a wide array of low-voltage control panels across marine, recreational vehicle, and industrial sectors:

  • Marine Vessels: Ideal for helm panels, flybridges, and open boats requiring weather-resistant switching between navigation equipment, pumps, or battery isolators.
  • 4WDs and Caravans: Dependable circuit selection for dual battery management displays, auxiliary fuel transfer systems, or dual-colour work lighting.
  • Industrial and Specialty Vehicles: Reliable two-state control for agricultural machinery, emergency service vehicles, and mobile service bodies exposed to dust, moisture, and heavy vibration.

Upgrade Your Control Panel

Ensure your electrical system remains responsive and reliable in the toughest Australian conditions. Integrate the Blue Sea SPDT ON/ON Contura Switch into your marine helm or off-grid vehicle dashboard today for professional-grade circuit control.
