Blue Sea SPDT ON-OFF-ON Panel-Mount Toggle Switch

DESCRIPTION

Reliable Three-Position Control for Marine and Automotive Electrical Panels

Managing complex electrical systems in marine vessels, caravans, and custom off-grid setups requires components that offer both precision and long-term durability. This single pole double throw (SPDT) toggle switch provides a dependable ON-OFF-ON switching action, allowing you to control two separate circuits from a single common source, with a positive centre-off position for complete isolation. Whether you are configuring dual-speed windscreen wipers, managing manual and automatic bilge pump overrides, or wiring up generator starter controls, this switch delivers the tactile feedback and mechanical reliability required for critical applications.

Seamless Integration with A-Series Panels

One of the primary challenges when upgrading or building a custom power distribution panel is maintaining a clean, uniform aesthetic across different types of circuit protection and control switches. This toggle switch is specifically engineered to mount directly into standard Blue Sea Systems A-Series toggle circuit breaker apertures. By matching the physical footprint and white toggle actuator style of A-Series breakers, it allows system builders to integrate non-breaker switching functions into an existing panel layout without visual mismatches or awkward panel modifications.

For installations that do not utilise pre-cut circuit breaker panels, the switch includes a specialised black panel-mount adapter frame. This supplied adapter allows the unit to be securely fitted into a standard 5/8-inch (approx. 16mm) circular mounting hole, providing exceptional versatility for custom dashboards, helm stations, and auxiliary control boxes.

Engineered for Harsh Environments

Standard automotive switches often fail prematurely when exposed to high-humidity, salt-laden air, or constant vibration. Sub-standard materials can quickly oxidise, leading to increased electrical resistance, intermittent circuit failure, and potential overheating at the terminal connections. To mitigate these risks, this switch is constructed from high-grade, non-corrosive nickel-plated brass and a robust phenolic body.

Phenolic resin is an advanced thermosetting plastic renowned for its superior electrical insulation properties, high heat resistance, and mechanical strength. Combined with the corrosion-resistant nickel-plated brass hardware and quick-connect spade terminals, this construction ensures consistent electrical conductivity and structural integrity over thousands of switching cycles in demanding marine and mobile environments.

Key Features and Benefits

  • SPDT ON-OFF-ON Configuration: Provides versatile three-position control, ideal for switching between two power sources or operating two-function accessories like high/low fans and manual/auto bilge systems.
  • Direct Panel Compatibility: Designed to drop directly into standard A-Series toggle circuit breaker panel cutouts for a unified, professional helm or dashboard appearance.
  • Supplied Mounting Adapter: Includes a dedicated adapter bezel to fit standard 5/8-inch (approx. 16mm) round mounting holes in custom panels.
  • Non-Corrosive Construction: Built with a phenolic housing and nickel-plated brass components to resist moisture, salt mist, and oxidation in marine environments.
  • Quick-Connect Terminals: Features rear spade terminals for straightforward, secure wiring connections during installation or maintenance.

Common Applications

The three-position maintained contact arrangement makes this switch a versatile component for a wide range of low-voltage control circuits, including:

  • Bilge Pump Control: Easily switch between Automatic (float switch), Off, and Manual override modes.
  • Navigation and Anchor Lights: Control running lights and anchor lights independently from a single toggle location.
  • Wiper and Fan Controls: Manage multi-speed motors or directional actuators in boats, RVs, and heavy machinery.
  • Engine and Generator Systems: Ideal for auxiliary start/stop controls, fuel transfer pumps, and horn relays.

Upgrade Your Control Panel

Ensure your electrical distribution system operates safely and reliably in any environment. Integrate this marine-grade SPDT toggle switch into your A-Series panel or custom dashboard today for precise, long-lasting circuit control.
