Blue Sea SPDT ON-OFF-ON Contura Panel-Mount Switch, Black
Blue Sea SPDT ON-OFF-ON Contura Panel-Mount Switch, Black
Ignition Protected UL1500 & ISO8846 - Vibration & Salt Spray Resistant

DESCRIPTION
Reliable Three-Position Marine Control for Demanding Electrical Systems
Managing dual-function electrical circuits in harsh environments requires hardware engineered to resist the elements. The Blue Sea Systems Contura SPDT Switch delivers precise ON-OFF-ON three-position control, allowing operators to seamlessly toggle between two separate loads or power sources from a single mounting point. Purpose-built for integration into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant panels, this rocker switch is an essential component for marine helm stations, 4WD canopies, and off-grid utility vehicles.
Engineered for Harsh Marine and Off-Road Conditions
Standard automotive switches often fail prematurely when exposed to coastal air, heavy washdowns, or corrugated tracks. Internal corrosion and mechanical fatigue can lead to voltage drop, intermittent circuit failure, or complete loss of control over critical equipment like bilge pumps and navigation lights. This Contura rocker switch mitigates those risks through rigorous environmental sealing and robust internal mechanics.
Constructed to endure extreme temperature fluctuations (thermoshock), continuous moisture, and corrosive salt spray, it maintains reliable contact integrity over long-term use. Its high resistance to physical shock and vibration ensures the actuator remains securely in its selected position, even when navigating rough seas or challenging off-road terrain.
Certified Ignition Protection for Enhanced Safety
Electrical arcing inside an unsealed switch presents a severe hazard in enclosed spaces where flammable vapours may accumulate, such as petrol boat engine rooms or specialised utility lockers. This switch is fully ignition protected and compliant with stringent UL1500 and ISO8846 safety standards. By containing any internal electrical spark, it provides safe, compliant operation aboard petrol-powered vessels and in hazardous mobile environments.
Key Features and Benefits
- SPDT ON-OFF-ON Configuration: Single Pole Double Throw design allows control of two distinct circuits with a positive centre-off position to prevent accidental activation.
- Certified Ignition Protection: Meets UL1500 and ISO8846 standards, making it safe for installation on petrol-powered boats and near fuel storage areas.
- Environmental Durability: Tested to withstand moisture, salt spray, and thermoshock for dependable performance in exposed marine cockpits and 4x4 setups.
- Vibration and Shock Resistant: Engineered to maintain reliable electrical contact under heavy mechanical stress and rough conditions.
- Seamless Panel Integration: Specifically manufactured to snap securely into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant Contura switch panels.
Versatile Applications
The three-position maintained action is ideal for circuits requiring two active modes and a central isolation state. Common installations include:
- Navigation and Anchor Lights: Toggle easily between running lights, off, and anchor light modes using a single switch.
- Bilge and Transfer Pumps: Switch between manual override, off, and automatic float switch operation.
- Dual Speed Fans or Wipers: Select between high and low operational speeds with a dedicated off position.
- Auxiliary Lighting: Control dual-mode work lights, such as switching between amber and white output on a 4WD or service vehicle.
Upgrade your helm or dashboard with the Blue Sea Contura SPDT ON-OFF-ON Switch to ensure safe, weather-resistant circuit control in your marine or off-road electrical system.
