Blue Sea Power Post Cable Connector 5/16
Blue Sea Power Post Cable Connector 5/16
Approx. M8x22mm Stainless Stud with Red Boot & UL94 V-0 Base

DESCRIPTION
Heavy-Duty Multi-Conductor Power Post for High-Amperage DC Systems
Secure, Insulated Cable Termination for Marine, 4WD, and Off-Grid Installations
Managing high-current wiring in mobile, marine, and off-grid electrical setups requires reliable hardware that prevents voltage drop and resists overheating. The Blue Sea Power Post Cable Connector provides a dedicated, insulated junction point designed to securely terminate multiple large-gauge conductors onto a single stud. Whether you are consolidating inverter feeds, linking auxiliary battery banks, or extending heavy-duty starter cables, this power post ensures a tidy, compliant, and electrically sound installation.
Stacking multiple heavy-duty cable lugs directly onto battery terminals is a common error in DIY 12V, 24V, and 48V systems. This practice often leads to poor surface contact, increased electrical resistance, and potential damage to the battery terminal itself. By relocating these heavy connections to a dedicated power distribution post, you reduce mechanical stress on your batteries and create a much safer, more serviceable wiring layout.
Engineered for Harsh Environments and High-Current Loads
Constructed with a 5/16" x 7/8" (Approx. M8 x 22mm) stainless steel stud, this connector is built to handle the mechanical torque required to tightly clamp large copper lugs. While stainless steel provides the structural strength and corrosion resistance necessary for harsh marine and under-bonnet environments, the design ensures that the connected cable lugs make direct face-to-face contact with one another. This direct lug-to-lug interface allows the copper terminals to carry the electrical load directly, bypassing the resistance of the stud material and preventing dangerous heat build-up during heavy continuous current draws.
The mounting base is moulded from high-grade PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) thermoplastic that conforms to the strict UL94 V-0 flammability standard. Unlike standard plastics that can warp or melt when exposed to elevated engine bay temperatures or high-load electrical warmth, this flame-retardant base maintains its structural integrity and provides dependable electrical isolation from the mounting surface, such as a metal chassis or aluminium canopy wall.
- 5/16" x 7/8" (Approx. M8 x 22mm) Stainless Steel Stud: Offers high thread strength and superior resistance to rust and corrosion in coastal or humid conditions.
- UL94 V-0 Flame-Retardant PBT Base: Isolates the live connection from metal mounting surfaces while resisting high temperatures and chemical exposure.
- Protective Red Insulating Boot Included: Shields the exposed terminal post from accidental contact with stray tools or loose wires, significantly reducing the risk of dangerous short circuits.
- Dual-Hole Mounting Flange: Allows the base to be firmly fastened to flat panels, bulkheads, or battery boxes, preventing the post from rotating when tightening the terminal nut.
- Complete Fastening Hardware: Supplied with a matching stainless steel nut and washer to ensure consistent clamping force across stacked cable lugs.
Versatile Applications Across Mobile and Stationary Power Setups
This Blue Sea junction post is a fundamental component for auto electricians, marine technicians, and off-grid builders looking to maintain professional wiring standards. Its compact footprint allows it to fit into tight electrical cabinets, canopy control boards, and boat hulls where full-sized busbars may not be practical. Typical applications include:
- Caravan and RV Battery Systems: Creating a central positive pickup point for high-draw appliances like 12V or 24V inverters, DC-DC chargers, and air compressors.
- Marine Electrical Panels: Serving as a corrosion-resistant junction for bilge pumps, windlasses, thrusters, and main battery isolation switches.
- 4WD Dual Battery Setups: Providing a safe under-bonnet or rear-canopy termination point for winch power leads, Anderson plug wiring, and starter motor extensions.
- Off-Grid Solar Cabinets: Acting as an insulated tie-point for combining heavy battery interconnects or charge controller outputs before routing to main circuit protection.
Upgrade Your Electrical Distribution
Eliminate cluttered battery terminals and reduce the risk of high-resistance electrical faults in your system. Incorporate the Blue Sea 5/16" (Approx. M8) Power Post Cable Connector into your next marine, 4WD, or off-grid power build for a secure, insulated, and professional-grade cable termination.
