Blue Sea Dual Power Post Connector, 1x5/16 and 1x3/8 Studs

DESCRIPTION

High-Amperage Dual Power Post for Secure Electrical Terminations

Managing heavy-duty electrical wiring in marine, automotive, and off-grid power systems requires components that can safely handle substantial current loads without introducing voltage drop or connection hazards. This dual power post connector provides a dedicated, insulated termination point specifically engineered for extending outboard engine harnesses and linking high-amperage conductors. By consolidating positive and negative connections onto a single, durable mounting base, it streamlines complex wiring architectures and simplifies system maintenance.

Engineered for Safety and System Integrity

In cramped battery compartments, bilges, or vehicle canopies, exposed high-current terminals present a serious risk of accidental short circuits. This connector directly mitigates these hazards through a comprehensive insulation design. The unit features an integrated central safety barrier molded directly into the base, physically separating the two stainless steel studs to prevent tools, loose wires, or conductive hardware from bridging the terminals during installation or servicing.

Furthermore, the package includes flexible red and black protective insulator boots. These covers slip securely over the terminated cables and studs, offering immediate visual polarity identification for positive and negative lines while shielding the live connections from inadvertent contact and environmental debris.

Key Features and Technical Advantages

  • Dual-Sized Terminal Studs: Equipped with one 5/16" (approx. M8) stud and one 3/8" (approx. M10) stud to accommodate different ring terminal sizes and prevent the accidental cross-connection of positive and negative cables.
  • High-Current Capability: Designed specifically for connecting heavy-gauge, high-amp conductors in demanding DC electrical circuits.
  • Integrated Safety Divider: A robust central barrier isolates the two posts, significantly reducing the risk of dangerous arc faults and short circuits.
  • Colour-Coded Insulators: Supplied with one red and one black flexible protective cover for clear polarity identification and terminal shielding.
  • Insulated Mounting Base: The non-conductive black plastic base features pre-drilled mounting holes, allowing secure installation onto metal hulls, vehicle chassis, or bulkheads without grounding out the circuit.
  • Corrosion-Resistant Hardware: Stainless steel studs ensure reliable mechanical clamping force and longevity in harsh marine and mobile environments.

Practical Applications in Marine and Mobile Systems

The asymmetric stud configuration—pairing a 5/16" (approx. M8) terminal with a 3/8" (approx. M10) terminal—is particularly advantageous when extending marine outboard wiring harnesses. Many outboard manufacturers utilise staggered lug sizes for positive and negative leads as a built-in safety measure against reverse polarity. This dual power post matches that requirement seamlessly, eliminating the need to drill out lugs or use mismatched adapters that can compromise the electrical contact surface area.

Beyond marine propulsion, this connector serves as an ideal junction block for 12V, 24V, and 48V auxiliary power setups in 4WDs, caravans, and commercial vehicles. Whether you are routing heavy battery cables to a high-output inverter, setting up a winch power isolation point, or organising main feeder lines from a lithium battery bank, this termination post ensures a mechanically sound, low-resistance connection.
