Blue Sea Contura SPDT ON-OFF-ON Switch, Grey
Blue Sea Contura SPDT ON-OFF-ON Switch, Grey
Ignition Protected Marine Rocker Switch - UL1500 & ISO8846 Compliant

DESCRIPTION
Heavy-Duty Marine Panel Switching with Ignition Protection
Engineered specifically for seamless integration into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant panels, this Contura rocker switch delivers dependable Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) control in demanding marine and off-grid environments. With a maintained three-position ON-OFF-ON switching configuration, it allows operators to control two separate circuits from a single common power source, making it an essential component for complex vessel and vehicle electrical systems.
Unlike standard automotive switches that rapidly degrade when exposed to coastal elements, the Blue Sea Contura series is purpose-built to withstand harsh conditions. It features an integrated water-resistant gasket that prevents moisture ingress at the panel face, protecting the internal contacts and rear electrical connections from corrosion and premature failure.
Certified Safety for Petrol and Diesel Vessels
Electrical safety in enclosed engine bays and bilge areas is critical. This switch features a fully sealed housing that meets stringent UL1500 and ISO8846 ignition protection requirements. This certification makes it safe for installation aboard petrol-powered boats, as the internal switching mechanism is isolated to prevent any electrical arc from igniting surrounding flammable fumes.
Engineered for Extreme Environments
Whether navigating choppy offshore waters or travelling across corrugated outback tracks, electrical components are subjected to constant mechanical stress and rapid temperature changes. The Contura switch body and tactile grey rocker actuator are rigorously tested to resist:
- Salt Spray and Moisture: Prevents internal corrosion and short circuits in open cockpits, flybridges, and wet dash environments.
- Vibration and Shock: Maintains secure electrical contact and prevents accidental actuation during heavy wave impacts or rough off-road travel.
- Thermoshock: Withstands rapid temperature fluctuations without housing cracks or seal degradation.
Key Features and Benefits
- SPDT ON-OFF-ON Action: Three-position maintained switching ideal for dual-circuit applications.
- Certified Ignition Protected: Complies with UL1500 and ISO8846 standards for safe operation on petrol-powered vessels.
- Panel-Ready Integration: Designed to snap directly into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant Contura panels.
- Tactile Grey Actuator: Ergonomic rocker surface ensures positive, slip-resistant operation even with wet or gloved hands.
- Three-Terminal Design: Rear metal terminal pins provide straightforward connectivity for single pole double throw wiring setups.
Versatile Marine and Off-Grid Applications
The SPDT ON-OFF-ON configuration solves the problem of cluttered dash panels by combining two related functions into a single cutout. Common applications include:
- Navigation and Anchor Lights: Easily toggle between running lights (ON), off, and anchor light only (ON) using one switch.
- Bilge Pump Control: Switch seamlessly between automatic float switch mode, manual override, and system off.
- Windscreen Wipers: Select between low speed, off, and high-speed wiper operation.
- Dual Tank or Auxiliary Systems: Manage fuel transfer pumps, dual blower speeds, or auxiliary lighting setups in 4WDs, caravans, and commercial workboats.
