Blue Sea Contura Single-Pole Double-Throw 3-Position Switch, (ON)-OFF-(ON), Grey
Blue Sea Contura Single-Pole Double-Throw 3-Position Switch, (ON)-OFF-(ON), Grey
Ignition-Protected Momentary Marine Rocker Switch - UL 1500 Compliant

DESCRIPTION
Precision Momentary Marine SPDT Switching for Harsh Environments
The Blue Sea Systems Contura 8234B is a heavy-duty single-pole double-throw (SPDT) rocker switch engineered specifically for demanding marine and off-grid electrical installations. Featuring a momentary (ON)-OFF-(ON) three-position configuration, the actuator springs back to the centre OFF position when released. This provides safe, deliberate control for dual-direction circuits where continuous activation is not desired.
Standard automotive switches often fail quickly when exposed to coastal air, hull pounding, or rapid temperature shifts, leading to corroded contacts and electrical faults. The Contura series solves this problem by integrating internal weather-resistant seals and rugged internal mechanisms designed to endure constant vibration, physical shock, thermoshock, moisture, and salt spray.
Engineered for Marine Safety and Panel Integration
When working with marine electrical systems, particularly aboard petrol-powered vessels, safety compliance is critical. This switch features a fully sealed, ignition-protected housing that meets strict UL 1500 and ISO 8846 standards. It reduces the risk of internal electrical arcs igniting flammable bilge fumes, making it safe for installation in or near engine compartments and fuel storage areas.
In addition to standalone custom dash installations, this unit is specially manufactured to clip directly into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant Contura panels, ensuring a cohesive, watertight seal across your entire helm or control board.
Key Features and Benefits
- Momentary (ON)-OFF-(ON) Action: Spring-return to the centre off position prevents accidental continuous operation of pumps, winches, or actuators.
- Certified Ignition Protection: Complies with UL 1500 and ISO 8846 requirements for safe installation aboard petrol and diesel boats.
- Extreme Environmental Resistance: Tested to withstand heavy vibration, mechanical shock, thermoshock, moisture ingress, and corrosive salt spray.
- Seamless Panel Mounting: Purpose-built for direct integration into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant electrical panels.
- Tactile Grey Rocker Face: Provides positive physical feedback in wet conditions and rough seas while matching standard marine dash aesthetics.
Ideal Applications
Because the (ON) positions in parentheses denote momentary operation, this SPDT switch is suited for equipment that requires temporary, two-way or dual-circuit control:
- Windlass anchor winches (Up / Off / Down)
- Hydraulic or electric trim tabs and engine tilt controls
- Dual-circuit bilge pump overrides or momentary horn and wiper washer functions
- Motorised hatches, vents, and linear actuators in marine vessels, 4WDs, and expedition campers
Upgrade Your Control Panel
Equip your vessel or off-road electrical system with hardware built to handle the elements. Add the Blue Sea Contura SPDT momentary switch to your setup for compliant, water-resistant circuit control.
