Blue Sea Contura DPST On-Off Switch, Grey

DESCRIPTION

Heavy-Duty Marine Rocker Switch for Dual-Circuit Control and Harsh Environments

Managing electrical systems in exposed marine, 4WD, and off-grid environments requires hardware built to endure extreme conditions without failure. The Blue Sea Contura DPST On-Off Switch provides dependable manual control for critical accessories, lighting, and auxiliary circuits. Featuring a Double Pole Single Throw (DPST) configuration, this switch allows you to simultaneously connect or isolate two separate circuits, or break both the positive and negative feeds to a single device with one tactile action. It is specifically engineered to integrate seamlessly into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant panels, ensuring a clean and professional dashboard installation.

Engineered for Extreme Marine and Off-Road Durability

Standard automotive switches often corrode or fail prematurely when exposed to coastal air, heavy rain, or constant mechanical rattling. This marine rocker switch is constructed to withstand relentless vibration, physical shock, thermoshock, moisture ingress, and corrosive salt spray. An integrated water-resistant gasket forms a protective seal against the mounting surface, safeguarding rear wiring and internal contacts from water damage during washdowns or foul weather.

The grey Contura actuator features raised horizontal grip lines, offering positive tactile feedback even when operated with wet or gloved hands. Additionally, the actuator includes a translucent status window on the face to allow for clear visual indication when paired with compatible illuminated panel setups.

Certified Ignition Protection for Confined Spaces

Electrical arcing inside a switch body poses a severe safety hazard when operating near volatile fumes. This Contura switch features an ignition-protected housing that meets stringent UL1500 and ISO8846 standards. It is safe for installation aboard petrol-powered boats, within engine bays, or near fuel storage compartments in camper trailers and service vehicles, significantly reducing the risk of accidental vapour ignition.

Key Features and Benefits

  • DPST On-Off Configuration: Simultaneously controls two isolated circuits or completely disconnects both positive and negative lines to a single load.
  • Certified Ignition Protection: Complies with UL1500 and ISO8846 safety standards for safe operation in petrol-powered vessels and hazardous vapour zones.
  • Harsh Environment Resistance: Rigorously tested to endure continuous vibration, shock, extreme temperature shifts (thermoshock), moisture, and salt spray.
  • Tactile Ergonomic Actuator: Grey rocker face with horizontal grooves and a translucent indicator lens ensures reliable, slip-free operation and status visibility.
  • Seamless Panel Integration: Equipped with rear blade terminals and a perimeter gasket designed specifically for Blue Sea Systems water-resistant switch panels.

Versatile Applications Across Marine and Mobile Setups

Whether you are refitting a centre console boat, wiring a custom 4WD canopy, or upgrading an off-grid caravan control board, this switch delivers long-term reliability. Its dual-pole design is particularly useful for simultaneously activating navigation and anchor light circuits, controlling dual bilge pumps, or pairing an operational load with an external warning indicator.

Upgrade your vessel or vehicle control panel with the Blue Sea Contura DPST Switch today for safe, moisture-resistant circuit management in demanding conditions.
