Black Contura rocker switch with DPST OFF-ON functionality and rear blade terminals

Blue Sea Contura DPST OFF-ON Panel-Mount Switch, Black

DESCRIPTION

Heavy-Duty Marine Panel Switching with Certified Ignition Protection

Engineered for demanding marine, off-road, and mobile electrical systems, the Blue Sea Systems Contura switch delivers dependable two-position circuit control. Featuring a Double Pole, Single Throw (DPST) configuration, this unit allows operators to simultaneously switch two separate circuits or isolate both the positive and negative leads of a single load with one actuator. Designed specifically to integrate into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant panels, it provides a secure, weather-tight solution for exposed helm stations, cockpit dashboards, and custom electrical enclosures.

Certified Safety for Petrol-Powered Vessels

Electrical arcing in confined engine bays or bilge areas presents a severe hazard when flammable fumes are present. Unlike standard automotive switches that leave internal contacts exposed to the surrounding atmosphere, this Contura rocker switch features a sealed rear housing that meets strict UL 1500 and ISO 8846 ignition-protection standards. This critical safety engineering makes the switch safe for installation aboard petrol-powered boats, reducing the risk of vapour ignition during operation.

Built to Endure Harsh Australian Environments

Marine and 4WD electrical components are constantly subjected to corrosive elements and mechanical stress. Constructed from high-grade, non-corrosive materials, this panel-mount switch is built to withstand extreme environmental conditions that cause lesser hardware to fail prematurely. It is thoroughly tested for resistance against:

  • Moisture and Salt Spray: Prevents internal contact corrosion and voltage drop in coastal and offshore environments, aided by an integrated mounting gasket.
  • Vibration and Mechanical Shock: Ensures the actuator maintains positive engagement without accidental switching when navigating rough seas or corrugated outback tracks.
  • Thermoshock: Maintains structural integrity across rapid temperature fluctuations, from freezing mornings to direct summer sun on an open dashboard.

Ergonomic Design and Straightforward Installation

Designed for practical operation in wet or low-light conditions, the black rocker actuator features a tactile textured surface with horizontal grip grooves for confident finger placement. A clear horizontal lens sits at the top of the actuator, providing visibility for internal illumination so you can quickly verify circuit status at a glance. At the rear, standard quick-connect blade terminals streamline the wiring process for straightforward integration into new builds or panel retrofits.

Key Features

  • DPST OFF-ON Functionality: Controls two independent circuits simultaneously or provides complete positive and negative isolation for a single appliance.
  • Ignition Protected: Complies with UL 1500 and ISO 8846 standards for safe installation aboard petrol-powered vessels.
  • Environmental Resilience: Engineered to resist vibration, shock, thermoshock, moisture, and salt spray.
  • Seamless Panel Integration: Purpose-built for mounting in Blue Sea Systems water-resistant Contura panels with a weather-resistant seal.
  • Tactile Actuator: Black rocker with horizontal grip grooves and an integrated window for status illumination.

Upgrade Your Marine or Off-Grid Switchboard

Whether you are refitting a trailer boat, upgrading a yacht helm, or building a custom 12V canopy setup, the Blue Sea Systems Contura DPST switch provides the environmental sealing and electrical reliability required for critical circuits. Add this ignition-protected switch to your project today to ensure safe, long-lasting power control.
