Blue Sea Contura DPDT ON-ON Switch, Grey
Blue Sea Contura DPDT ON-ON Switch, Grey
Ignition Protected UL1500 Marine Rocker for Water-Resistant Panels

DESCRIPTION
Heavy-Duty Marine Rocker Switch for Dual-Circuit Control
The Blue Sea Systems Contura DPDT ON-ON Switch in grey is engineered to provide reliable, dual-circuit switching in demanding marine, automotive, and off-grid electrical installations. Featuring a Double-Pole, Double-Throw (DPDT) configuration with a continuous ON-ON action, this switch allows operators to control two separate circuits simultaneously or alternate power between two distinct loads without a centre off position. It is specifically manufactured to integrate seamlessly into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant panels, ensuring a clean and secure fit for custom dashboards and control consoles.
Engineered for Harsh Environments
Standard residential or low-grade automotive switches often fail prematurely when exposed to the rigours of marine and off-road travel. Moisture ingress, salt spray, and relentless mechanical vibration can lead to corroded contacts, intermittent electrical faults, and complete system failure. This Contura series rocker switch mitigates those risks through robust environmental sealing and durable internal architecture. Built to withstand extreme vibration, physical shock, and thermoshock, it maintains consistent electrical continuity even when navigating rough seas or corrugated tracks.
The grey rocker actuator features horizontal textured grip lines, providing a tactile surface for positive operation when hands are wet or gloved. Beneath the actuator, an integrated mounting gasket forms a protective barrier when installed in compatible water-resistant panels, shielding rear wiring and panel interiors from water and salt accumulation.
Certified Ignition Protection for Marine Safety
When installing electrical components aboard petrol-powered vessels, preventing stray sparks is critical to crew and vessel safety. This Contura switch features a sealed black housing that is fully ignition protected, meeting strict UL1500 and ISO8846 compliance standards. This certification ensures the switch will not ignite surrounding flammable vapours, making it suitable for installation in or near marine engine rooms, bilge areas, and fuel storage compartments.
Key Features and Benefits
- DPDT ON-ON Configuration: Provides two active switching positions across two poles, ideal for transferring loads, reversing polarity, or managing dual electrical pathways.
- Certified Ignition Protected: Complies with UL1500 and ISO8846 standards for safe installation aboard petrol-powered boats.
- Environmental Resilience: Rigorously tested for resistance against moisture, salt spray, thermoshock, mechanical shock, and high vibration.
- Ergonomic Actuator Design: Grey rocker surface with horizontal textured ridges ensures confident, non-slip operation in wet conditions.
- Seamless Panel Integration: Specifically dimensioned with an integrated mounting gasket for Blue Sea Systems water-resistant switch panels.
Versatile Switching Applications
Because the ON-ON configuration has no centre off state, one circuit path is always active. This makes the switch particularly useful as a selector or changeover switch in specialised setups:
- Switching instrumentation or gauges between two separate tanks or battery banks
- Controlling dual-speed appliances such as windscreen wipers or ventilation blowers (when paired with appropriate primary power isolation)
- Selecting between two different navigation light configurations or auxiliary lighting circuits
- Replacing worn or damaged switches in existing Blue Sea Systems WeatherDeck or Contura water-resistant panels
Upgrade Your Control Panel
