Blue Sea Contura DPDT (ON)-OFF-ON Panel-Mount Switch, Black
Blue Sea Contura DPDT (ON)-OFF-ON Panel-Mount Switch, Black
Ignition-Protected Marine Rocker Switch - Moisture & Salt Resistant

DESCRIPTION
Heavy-Duty Marine Rocker Switch for Complex Circuit Control
The Blue Sea Systems Contura Switch is engineered specifically for demanding marine and off-grid electrical environments. Featuring a Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) configuration with an (ON)-OFF-ON action, this panel-mount rocker switch provides versatile control over dual circuits or complex electrical loads. In this specific configuration, the parenthesis indicates a momentary action in one direction, paired with a centre off position and a maintained on position in the opposite direction. This makes it an ideal solution for marine applications such as combining windshield wipers with a momentary washer function, or managing dual-function bilge and ballast pumps.
Engineered for Harsh Marine Environments
Standard automotive switches often fail quickly when exposed to coastal conditions due to corrosion and moisture ingress. The Blue Sea Contura series resolves this issue by incorporating an integrated watertight rubber gasket and rugged internal seals. Specially manufactured for seamless mounting into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant panels, this switch actively resists moisture, salt spray, and severe weather conditions.
Beyond moisture protection, the switch body is built to endure the constant mechanical stresses of marine travel and off-road touring. It is thoroughly tested for resistance against high vibration, physical shock, and thermoshock, ensuring reliable electrical continuity when navigating rough seas or corrugated tracks. The ergonomic black textured rocker actuator provides positive tactile feedback and features a clear white horizontal position indicator for quick visual confirmation at the helm.
Key Features and Technical Benefits
- Versatile DPDT (ON)-OFF-ON Action: Combines momentary, off, and maintained positions across two poles for advanced circuit management.
- Certified Ignition Protection: Meets stringent UL1500 and ISO8846 requirements, making it safe for installation aboard petrol-powered vessels.
- Superior Environmental Sealing: Built to withstand continuous exposure to salt spray, moisture, and extreme temperature fluctuations.
- High Mechanical Durability: Resistant to heavy vibration and shock, preventing accidental actuation or internal contact failure.
- Streamlined Installation: Equipped with standard blade-type quick-connect terminals for secure wiring and designed to snap directly into compatible water-resistant panels.
Critical Safety and Ignition Protection
When installing electrical components in enclosed marine spaces, particularly on petrol-powered boats, mitigating the risk of electrical sparks is critical. This Contura switch features a fully ignition-protected body that complies with both UL1500 and ISO8846 safety standards. By containing any internal electrical arcing within the switch housing, it significantly reduces the risk of igniting surrounding flammable bilge fumes or fuel vapours.
Upgrade Your Electrical Panel Today
Whether you are refitting a commercial vessel, wiring a recreational trailer boat, or building a custom weather-resistant 12V or 24V control panel for an off-grid expedition vehicle, this component delivers professional-grade reliability. Equip your helm or control board with the Blue Sea Contura DPDT switch for safe, long-lasting circuit operation.
