Blue Sea Contura 2 SPDT (ON)OFF(ON) Panel Mount Switch, Black
Blue Sea Contura 2 SPDT (ON)OFF(ON) Panel Mount Switch, Black
Momentary Spring-Return Action - Weather, Salt & Vibration Resistant

DESCRIPTION
Heavy-Duty Momentary Rocker Switching for Harsh Marine and Off-Grid Environments
Engineered for demanding electrical systems, the Blue Sea Systems Contura 2 SPDT switch delivers dependable dual-action momentary control. In electrical nomenclature, parentheses around a switch state denote momentary action. This (ON)-OFF-(ON) configuration means the actuator springs back to the central OFF position automatically when released from either direction. This makes the unit indispensable for precise, temporary circuit activation where leaving a circuit engaged could cause equipment damage or battery drain.
Whether you are fitting out a commercial marine vessel, wiring a custom 4WD canopy, or upgrading an off-grid caravan control panel, this momentary rocker switch provides the tactile feedback and mechanical durability required for critical operations. Standard automotive switches frequently fail when exposed to coastal air, heavy corrugations, or washdowns. By integrating a specialised weatherproof gasket and internal seals, this Contura II series switch actively prevents moisture ingress and salt spray corrosion, significantly reducing the risk of short circuits and premature terminal failure.
Key Features and Technical Benefits
- Dual Momentary Action: Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) design with spring-return to a positive centre-off position for safe, temporary circuit actuation.
- Extreme Environmental Resistance: Purpose-built to withstand continuous vibration, mechanical shock, thermoshock, moisture, and corrosive salt spray.
- Ergonomic Contura II Actuator: Features a black rocker face with raised tactile bumps, ensuring a secure, non-slip grip even with wet or gloved hands.
- Integrated Weatherproof Gasket: Seals tightly against the mounting surface to protect behind-panel wiring from dust and water ingress.
- Streamlined Installation: Equipped with rear quick-connect blade terminals and a snap-in panel mount latch for rapid integration into standard cutouts.
Ideal Applications for (ON)-OFF-(ON) Switching
Because the switch only completes the circuit while actively held by the operator, it is the industry standard for directional and bi-directional equipment. Common installations across 12V and 24V electrical systems include:
- Marine Vessels: Controlling anchor windlasses (up/down), hydraulic trim tabs, power tilt systems, and manual bilge pump overrides.
- 4WD and Utility Vehicles: Operating recovery winches (in/out), pneumatic air locker compressors, or motorised radio antennas.
- Caravans and RVs: Managing slide-out room mechanisms, electric stabiliser legs, and motorised awnings.
Seamless Panel Integration
Designed for clean, professional dashboard and console layouts, this switch snaps directly into Blue Sea Systems Contura Water Resistant Panels and Contura Switch Mounting Panels. The robust rear blade terminals allow for straightforward crimping and reliable conductivity, minimising voltage drop across your switching circuits.
