Black textured plastic AC isolation cover for electrical panel protection with mounting flange

Blue Sea AC Isolation Panel Cover

DESCRIPTION

Reliable Electrical Insulation and Mechanical Protection for Exposed Panel Backs

In marine vessels, caravans, and off-grid installations, electrical distribution panels are frequently flush-mounted into walls or bulkheads that back directly onto storage lockers and utility spaces. Leaving the rear of an AC or combined AC/DC switch panel exposed in these areas creates significant safety and reliability hazards. The Blue Sea Systems 4027B AC Isolation Panel Cover is engineered to provide complete electrical insulation and robust mechanical shielding for exposed panel backs, ensuring your power distribution system remains safe and compliant.

Eliminate Risks in Confined Storage Spaces

When the rear of an electrical panel protrudes into a storage locker, shifting cargo, tools, or equipment can easily snag on delicate wiring, loosen terminal connections, or cause catastrophic short circuits. Furthermore, accidental human contact with live AC terminals poses a severe electrocution hazard. Installing this dedicated isolation cover creates a physical barrier over the vulnerable rear components, preventing accidental contact with live terminals and shielding your wiring harness from mechanical damage caused by moving gear.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Comprehensive Electrical Insulation: Shields live AC terminals and busbars from accidental contact, significantly enhancing crew and passenger safety.
  • Mechanical Locker Protection: Prevents shifting cargo and stored items in lockers or behind bulkheads from damaging sensitive rear-panel wiring and circuit breakers.
  • ABYC Compliant Design: Fully meets American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) safety requirements for electrical panels featuring combined AC and DC loads.
  • Customisable Wire Routing: Constructed from a specialised lightweight material that can be easily drilled on-site to create custom cable entry and exit points tailored to your specific wiring layout.
  • Simple Flange Mounting: Features a pre-drilled perimeter mounting flange for straightforward, secure attachment over the rear of your switch panel.

Engineered for Custom Marine and RV Installations

Unlike makeshift enclosures or standard junction boxes that are difficult to modify without cracking, the Blue Sea AC Isolation Cover is manufactured from a durable, lightweight textured plastic specifically designed for custom fabrication. Installers can effortlessly drill or cut apertures into the sides or base of the enclosure to accommodate heavy-gauge cables, conduit, or complex wiring looms. This flexibility ensures a neat, professional installation without compromising the structural integrity of the protective barrier.

Sizing and Compatibility

Designed to accommodate a variety of standard Blue Sea Systems panels and other electrical components, this enclosure provides ample internal clearance for rear-protruding circuit breakers, meters, and wiring harnesses. It is suitable for covering panels or electrical objects measuring up to 7-1/2" (Approx. 191mm) in length, 5-1/4" (Approx. 133mm) in width, and 3" (Approx. 76mm) in depth.

Upgrade Your Electrical System Safety

Ensure your marine or mobile electrical installation meets strict safety standards while protecting your vital wiring from everyday wear and tear. Add the Blue Sea AC Isolation Panel Cover to your build today for professional-grade panel back protection.
