Blue Sea A-Series Double Pole Circuit Breaker
Blue Sea A-Series Double Pole Circuit Breaker
8A Magnetic-Hydraulic Marine AC Protection with White Toggle Switch

DESCRIPTION
Reliable AC Main Circuit Protection for Marine and Off-Grid Electrical Panels
The Blue Sea A Series Double Pole Circuit Breaker (8A) is engineered to deliver both manual switching and precise overcurrent protection within a single, compact device. Designed primarily as an AC main circuit breaker for marine electrical panels, off-grid power systems, and specialised mobile installations, this unit simultaneously disconnects both the active (hot) and neutral lines when tripped or manually switched off. This dual-pole isolation is critical in marine and caravan shore power applications where reversed polarity or stray currents on the neutral conductor can pose significant safety hazards.
Advanced Magnetic-Hydraulic Operation
Unlike standard thermal circuit breakers that rely on heat-sensitive bimetallic strips, the Blue Sea A Series utilises a sophisticated magnetic-hydraulic mechanism. Standard thermal units can suffer from nuisance tripping when installed in hot engine rooms, enclosed battery lockers, or sun-exposed electrical cabinets, as high ambient temperatures prematurely trigger the thermal element. Conversely, magnetic-hydraulic technology senses only the actual current flowing through the circuit, remaining unaffected by surrounding ambient temperature fluctuations. This ensures consistent, predictable protection at the rated 8A capacity while incorporating a fluid-damped delay to tolerate harmless, momentary inrush currents during appliance start-up.
Key Features and Technical Benefits
- 8A Rated Capacity: Clearly marked 8A rating provides targeted protection for dedicated AC main feeds or sensitive dual-conductor branch circuits.
- Simultaneous Double-Pole Switching: Mechanically linked internal poles ensure that an overcurrent fault on either line immediately disconnects both conductors.
- Trip-Free Safety Mechanism: Engineered with a trip-free internal latch that cannot be manually held in the ON position while a fault current persists, protecting wiring and connected equipment from severe thermal damage.
- Magnetic-Hydraulic Precision: Delivers consistent trip points across varying ambient temperatures without requiring thermal de-rating.
- Ergonomic White Toggle Actuator: Features a high-visibility OFF marking for immediate visual confirmation of circuit status in dimly lit switchgear compartments.
- Heavy-Duty Brass Threaded Inserts: Facilitates secure, vibration-resistant panel mounting suited to rough marine conditions and corrugated off-road tracks.
- Comprehensive Global Compliance: Meets stringent American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) standards and holds UL 1077 recognition, alongside TUV, CE, and CSA certifications.
Engineered to Mitigate Electrical Risks
In marine vessels, RVs, and off-grid cabins, electrical systems are frequently subjected to moisture, salt mist, continuous mechanical vibration, and variable generator or shore power inputs. Using inferior residential-grade switchgear in these environments introduces risks of corrosion, loose terminations, and failure to isolate neutral faults. The Blue Sea A Series mitigates these risks through corrosion-resistant internal components and strict adherence to international marine standards. The integrated switching and circuit protection design also reduces the number of connection points required behind the panel, minimising voltage drop and potential failure points in your wiring harness.
