Blue Sea 8mm Cable Clam Seal for Antenna Cables

DESCRIPTION

Waterproof Marine Cable Pass-Through for Factory-Terminated Antenna Leads

Retain Original Connectors and Prevent Moisture Ingress in Marine and RV Installations

Routing pre-terminated coaxial and antenna cables through decks, bulkheads, or vehicle roofs presents a common installation challenge: the connector is significantly wider than the cable itself. The Blue Sea Systems 8mm Cable Clam resolves this issue by providing a reliable, waterproof deck gland that accommodates large factory-installed connectors during installation, while compressing tightly around the smaller 8mm cable jacket once in place.

By eliminating the need to cut and re-terminate coaxial cables, this through-deck cable seal preserves the integrity of the original factory connection. Splicing or fitting aftermarket connectors in the field often introduces signal loss, impedance mismatches, and potential points for moisture corrosion. Keeping the factory termination intact saves valuable installation time, avoids the cost of replacement connectors and specialised crimping tools, and maintains optimal signal clarity for critical communication and navigation equipment.

Engineered for Harsh Environments

Constructed from high-impact, UV-stabilised materials, this cable clam is designed to withstand prolonged exposure to intense sunlight and salt spray without becoming brittle or discolouring. Unlike standard rubber grommets or unsealed pass-throughs that rely heavily on messy marine sealants and degrade over time, this unit uses a mechanical compression design to create a dependable barrier against water ingress.

  • No-Cut Installation: Allows large factory-fitted coax and antenna connectors to pass through before sealing tightly around the 8mm cable.
  • Multi-Component Waterproofing: Utilises an integrated black rubber cable seal and a dedicated rubber base gasket to prevent water from entering the hull, cabin, or roof cavity.
  • Even Compression: An internal plastic compression ring distributes pressure uniformly across the rubber bung, ensuring a secure fit around the cable without pinching or damaging internal conductors.
  • UV-Stabilised Housing: The durable white cap resists degradation from harsh Australian UV rays and marine weather conditions.
  • Pre-Drilled Mounting: Features pre-drilled holes for straightforward surface mounting across decks, bulkheads, or cabin roofs.

Risks Reduced and Installation Considerations

Using sub-standard pass-through methods, such as filling oversized holes with silicone, frequently leads to leaks as cables flex and materials shrink. Water ingress through a deck or cabin roof can cause severe damage to interior linings, timber cores, and sensitive onboard electronics. The Blue Sea 8mm Cable Clam mitigates these risks by mechanically clamping both the cable and the mounting surface.

Important Application Note: This cable clam is engineered strictly for installations above the waterline only. It is ideal for routing VHF radio antennas, GPS receivers, radar cables, and cellular booster leads on boats, yachts, caravans, and commercial vehicles.

Upgrade Your Cable Routing

Protect your vessel or vehicle from water damage while maintaining peak antenna performance. Add the Blue Sea 8mm Cable Clam to your kit for a clean, professional above-waterline cable installation.
