Blue Sea 80A C-Series Single-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker

DESCRIPTION

Heavy-Duty Switching and Overcurrent Protection for Marine and Off-Grid Systems

The Blue Sea C-Series 80A Single-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker (BS-7248B) delivers reliable circuit protection and manual switching in a single, compact unit. Engineered specifically for demanding marine, RV, caravan, and industrial electrical setups, this device eliminates the need for separate switches and fuse holders. By consolidating two essential functions, it streamlines distribution panel layouts, reduces wiring complexity, and minimises potential points of failure in high-current applications.

Advanced Magnetic Hydraulic Design

Unlike standard thermal circuit breakers that rely on heat-sensitive bimetallic strips, the C-Series utilises a precision magnetic hydraulic mechanism. Standard thermal breakers can suffer from nuisance tripping when installed in hot engine bays, enclosed canopies, or sun-exposed electrical cabinets because ambient heat lowers their trip threshold. The magnetic hydraulic architecture of the BS-7248B senses only the actual electrical current flowing through the circuit. This ensures consistent, predictable overcurrent protection and stable 80A continuous performance regardless of ambient temperature fluctuations.

In addition to temperature stability, this breaker incorporates a trip-free design. This vital safety feature ensures that the internal contacts cannot be manually held closed during an active fault or short-circuit event. If an overcurrent condition exists, the breaker will trip internally even if the white toggle actuator is physically held in the ON position, protecting downstream equipment and cabling from thermal damage.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Dual-Function Operation: Combines heavy-duty 80A overcurrent protection with manual ON/OFF circuit switching in one streamlined component.
  • Magnetic Hydraulic Mechanism: Immune to ambient temperature variations, preventing nuisance tripping in hot enclosures or marine engine rooms.
  • Trip-Free Safety Mechanism: Internal contacts cannot be held closed during a fault current event, safeguarding wiring and electronics.
  • Marine-Grade Construction: Encased in a durable thermoplastic housing with integrated brass threaded mounting inserts for secure front-panel installation.
  • Ergonomic White Toggle: Provides tactile manual control and immediate visual indication of circuit status on dark distribution panels.
  • Heavy-Duty Rear Terminals: Robust screw terminals ensure secure, low-resistance attachment for high-amperage electrical lugs.

Engineered for Harsh Environments

Built to withstand the rigours of mobile and marine environments, the Blue Sea Systems C-Series features a rugged industrial thermoplastic enclosure that resists vibration, moisture, and corrosion. The front-panel mounting system utilises integrated brass threaded inserts, allowing for a flush, secure installation into custom switch panels or existing Blue Sea power distribution modules. At the rear, heavy-duty screw terminals provide a solid mechanical and electrical interface for heavy-gauge cabling, reducing voltage drop and heat build-up under high-amperage loads.

Ideal Applications

With its 80A current rating, the BS-7248B is well suited for protecting high-draw sub-panels, windlasses, bow thrusters, inverters, DC-DC chargers, and heavy-duty winch control circuits. Whether you are fitting out a commercial marine vessel, upgrading a 4WD dual-battery canopy, or designing a custom off-grid power board for a caravan, this single-pole breaker offers professional-grade circuit management.

Upgrade Your Electrical Distribution

Ensure your high-amperage circuits are protected against overloads and short circuits without the risk of heat-induced nuisance trips. Specify the Blue Sea C-Series 80A Toggle Circuit Breaker for your next marine, RV, or off-grid electrical installation.
