Blue Sea 5A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker - Black

DESCRIPTION

Integrated Magnetic-Hydraulic Circuit Protection and Switching

The Blue Sea A-Series 5A Single-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker combines reliable overcurrent protection and manual switching into one compact, panel-mounted device. Engineered as the standard circuit breaker for Blue Sea Systems electrical panels, this unit eliminates the need to wire separate switches and fuse holders. By consolidating two critical functions, it simplifies wiring harnesses, reduces potential points of failure, and saves valuable space on busy marine dashboards, caravan control boards, and custom off-grid power panels.

Why Magnetic-Hydraulic Technology Matters

Unlike standard thermal circuit breakers that rely on heat to trip, the Blue Sea A-Series utilises an advanced magnetic-hydraulic mechanism. Standard thermal breakers can suffer from nuisance tripping in hot engine bays, canopies, or sun-exposed marine consoles because high ambient temperatures affect their internal bimetallic strips. A magnetic-hydraulic breaker is unaffected by ambient temperature fluctuations. It reacts solely to the actual electrical current flowing through the circuit, ensuring consistent, predictable 5A overcurrent protection whether you are operating in freezing alpine conditions or the peak of an Australian summer.

Fail-Safe Trip-Free Design

Safety is paramount in high-vibration and remote electrical systems. This circuit breaker features a trip-free design, meaning the internal mechanism will trip and break the circuit during an overcurrent or short-circuit fault even if the external toggle actuator is physically held or jammed in the ON position. This critical safety feature reduces the risk of wire insulation meltdowns, equipment damage, and electrical fires by ensuring the circuit cannot be manually forced to remain live while a fault condition exists.

  • Dual-Function Design: Combines manual circuit switching and precise 5A overcurrent protection in a single footprint.
  • Magnetic-Hydraulic Operation: Delivers consistent trip performance without derating in high-temperature environments.
  • Trip-Free Safety Mechanism: Cannot be held in the ON position during a fault current condition, protecting wiring and connected loads.
  • Secure Panel Mounting: Features durable brass threaded mounting inserts and clear 5A / OFF markings on the ergonomic black toggle actuator.
  • Global Compliance: Meets American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) standards, with UL 1077 recognition, TUV certification, CE marking, and CSA certification.

Built for Demanding Marine and Mobile Applications

Constructed with durable brass threaded inserts for secure panel installation, the BS-7200B is built to endure the rigours of mobile and marine environments. The 5A current rating is clearly printed on the toggle face for immediate visual identification during system diagnostics or emergency shutdowns. Its adherence to strict international standards, including ABYC for marine vessels, provides peace of mind for professional auto electricians, boat builders, and DIY installers alike.

A 5A breaker is ideally suited for protecting low-draw, sensitive electronics and auxiliary circuits, including:

  • Marine navigation instruments, depth sounders, and chartplotters
  • VHF and UHF radio transceivers
  • LED cabin lighting, anchor lights, and courtesy lighting circuits
  • 12V or 24V sensor arrays, tank monitors, and relay trigger wires
  • Caravan and camper trailer control panel sub-circuits

Upgrade Your Electrical Panel

Ensure your low-amperage circuits and sensitive electronics are properly protected against electrical faults. Integrate the Blue Sea A-Series 5A Toggle Circuit Breaker into your marine, RV, or off-grid switchboard for dependable, temperature-stable circuit control.
