50A single-pole flat rocker circuit breaker with stud terminals

Blue Sea 50A C-Series Single-Pole Flat Rocker Circuit Breaker

DESCRIPTION

Heavy-Duty 50A Marine and Industrial Circuit Protection with Integrated Switching

Reliable Overcurrent Defence for Inverters, Bow Thrusters, and Windlasses

The Blue Sea C-Series 50A Single-Pole Flat Rocker Circuit Breaker provides essential overcurrent protection and manual ON/OFF switching in a single, streamlined device. Engineered specifically for demanding marine, RV, and off-grid industrial electrical systems, this hydraulic-magnetic circuit breaker eliminates the need to wire separate switches and fuse blocks. It is ideally suited for managing high-draw appliances and heavy-duty sub-circuits, including power inverters, bow thrusters, and electric windlasses.

Unlike basic thermal breakers that can suffer from nuisance tripping in hot engine bays or enclosed electrical cabinets, the C-Series is built for consistent performance across varying ambient temperatures. By integrating circuit isolation and fault protection into one robust panel-mount unit, it simplifies board layouts and reduces potential failure points in your power distribution network.

Ergonomic Flush-Mount Rocker and Trip-Free Safety

Accidental circuit activation or deactivation is a common risk in cramped marine cabins, 4WD canopies, and mobile workspaces. The flat rocker actuator on this C-Series breaker is specifically contoured to sit flush with the mounting bezel when in the ON position. This low-profile design prevents equipment, clothing, or personnel from inadvertently knocking the switch off during transit or operation. When switched OFF or tripped, a recessed colour actuator becomes clearly visible, providing immediate visual confirmation of the circuit status.

For uncompromising safety during an electrical fault, the unit features an internal trip-free mechanism. This critical engineering feature ensures that the internal contacts cannot be manually held closed while an overcurrent or short-circuit condition persists. Even if an operator attempts to force the rocker into the ON position during an active fault, the breaker will disconnect internally, protecting expensive downstream electronics and preventing dangerous cable overheating.

Engineered for High-Current Terminations

High-amperage circuits require robust, low-resistance connections to prevent voltage drop and thermal build-up at the terminal point. This 50A model utilises a unique paralleled pole arrangement connected to a heavy-duty bus, ensuring balanced load handling and long-term durability. The rear of the housing features heavy-duty 5/16"-18 (Approx. M8) stud terminals designed to accommodate large ring terminals and heavy-gauge battery or inverter cabling securely.

Furthermore, the front housing incorporates brass threaded inserts, allowing for secure front-panel mounting into custom switchboards or main distribution panels without the risk of stripping plastic threads over time.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Dual-Function Design: Combines manual ON/OFF circuit switching and reliable 50A overcurrent protection in one compact housing.
  • Flush ON Actuator: Rocker sits completely flat when engaged to eliminate accidental switching in high-traffic or tight spaces.
  • Clear Status Indication: High-visibility colour indicator clearly displays when the circuit is in the OFF or tripped state.
  • Trip-Free Operation: Internal mechanism trips independently of the actuator, preventing the breaker from being held closed during a fault.
  • Heavy-Duty Connections: Equipped with rear 5/16"-18 (Approx. M8) stud terminals to support secure, high-current lug terminations.
  • Secure Panel Mounting: Integrated brass threaded inserts provide superior mechanical strength for clean dashboard or switchboard installations.

Ideal Applications

Whether you are building a custom marine switchboard, upgrading a 12V, 24V, or 48V off-grid battery system, or fitting out an industrial service vehicle, this circuit breaker offers dependable control for critical loads:

  • Main circuit protection for DC-to-AC power inverters
  • High-load switching for marine bow thrusters and anchor windlasses
  • Primary isolation and protection for sub-panels and distribution busbars
  • Heavy-duty winches, hydraulic pumps, and commercial vehicle accessories
