Blue Sea A-Series 50A double-pole circuit breaker with white raised rocker switch

Blue Sea 50A A-Series Double-Pole Raised Rocker Circuit Breaker

DESCRIPTION

Integrated Switching and Overcurrent Protection for Electrical Distribution Panels

The Blue Sea A-Series 50A Double-Pole Raised Rocker Circuit Breaker combines high-capacity overcurrent protection and manual circuit switching into a single, compact panel-mount device. Engineered for reliability in demanding mobile and marine environments, this double-pole breaker allows you to simultaneously isolate two poles. This makes it an essential component for main circuit protection or managing dual-wire systems in boats, caravans, motorhomes, and off-grid power setups.

Featuring a clean white raised rocker actuator, this breaker provides tactile manual control and instant visual confirmation of your circuit's status. Unlike standard single-function switches that require separate fuse blocks, the A-Series streamlines your electrical board layout by reducing wiring complexity and potential failure points.

Key Features and Technical Benefits

  • Trip-Free Safety Mechanism: Internal engineering prevents the circuit breaker from being manually held in the ON position during an active fault current condition, protecting wiring and connected equipment from thermal damage.
  • Clear Visual Status Indication: The raised rocker actuator is designed so the contrasting actuator colour is visible only when in the OFF position, allowing operators to identify tripped or isolated circuits at a glance.
  • Flexible Mounting Orientation: Marked with universal international ON/OFF symbols, this unit supports both vertical and horizontal installation into custom or pre-fabricated switch panels.
  • Robust Mechanical Construction: Built with threaded brass mounting inserts for secure installation into distribution panels, alongside front-facing screw terminals that ensure reliable and accessible wiring attachment.
  • Double-Pole Isolation: Simultaneously disconnects both poles when tripped or switched off, providing comprehensive isolation for critical loads.

Engineered to Mitigate Electrical Risks

In high-vibration environments such as marine vessels and off-road 4WD canopies, inferior circuit protection can suffer from nuisance tripping, loose terminal connections, or mechanical failure under load. The Blue Sea Systems A-Series addresses these risks through precision manufacturing and durable materials. The integrated threaded brass inserts prevent stripping during panel assembly, while the solid screw terminals maintain clamping force on your cable lugs over time.

The critical trip-free design ensures that even if an operator attempts to force the rocker switch on while a short circuit or overload is present, the internal mechanism will override the manual input and remain open. This significantly reduces the risk of cable insulation meltdowns and electrical fires compared to basic resetting breakers.

Ideal Applications

With its 50A current rating and double-pole configuration, the BS-7577B is well-suited for high-draw appliances and main supply lines where complete circuit isolation is required. Typical installations include:

  • Marine AC or DC main power distribution boards
  • Caravan, RV, and camper trailer electrical control panels
  • Dual-circuit isolation in industrial and commercial mobile workspaces
  • Upgrading legacy fuse panels to modern resettable circuit protection
