Blue Sea 500A ANL Fuse

DESCRIPTION

Heavy-Duty 500A Circuit Protection for High-Amperage DC Systems

Engineered for Marine, Caravan, and Off-Grid Power Setups

The Blue Sea 500A ANL Fuse provides dependable overcurrent protection for demanding high-amperage DC electrical systems. Designed specifically for integration with ANL fuse blocks, this heavy-duty fuse safeguards critical power cabling and high-draw components against short circuits and severe electrical overloads. Whether you are wiring a high-capacity inverter in a caravan, managing a large battery bank in an off-grid solar installation, or protecting primary circuits on a marine vessel, this 500A ANL fuse delivers consistent, professional-grade performance.

In high-current 12V, 24V, and 48V DC architectures, inadequate circuit protection can lead to catastrophic equipment damage, voltage drops, or thermal hazards. Unlike unbranded alternatives that may suffer from inconsistent trip curves or poor mechanical construction, Blue Sea Systems engineers their circuit protection to meet stringent industry standards. This reduces the risk of nuisance blowing under normal surge loads while ensuring rapid, predictable interruption during a genuine fault condition.

Corrosion-Resistant Construction and High Conductivity

Harsh mobile and marine environments expose electrical connections to moisture, salt spray, and continuous vibration. To combat premature degradation, this ANL fuse features silver-plated connector blades crafted from high-conductivity copper. The specialised plating actively resists atmospheric and galvanic corrosion, maintaining a low-resistance connection over the lifespan of your system. By minimising contact resistance at the terminal interface, the fuse helps prevent localised heat build-up and unwanted voltage drop across your main battery or inverter lines.

Durable Design with Rapid Fault Identification

Constructed with a robust, mica-reinforced fibreglass insulating body, the fuse is built to withstand the high thermal stresses associated with heavy electrical loads. The fork terminal geometry allows for straightforward installation and secure bolted connections within standard ANL fuse holders.

Troubleshooting electrical faults in tight battery compartments or complex distribution panels is simplified thanks to the integrated clear viewing window. This inspection window provides an immediate, visible indication of a blown fuse condition, allowing technicians and system owners to verify circuit status at a glance without needing to remove the fuse or test for continuity with a multimeter.

  • 500A Current Rating: Suited for protecting large DC-to-AC inverters, high-output alternators, bow thrusters, and main battery bank feeds.
  • Corrosion-Resistant Blades: Silver-plated copper fork terminals ensure maximum conductivity and long-term durability in marine and mobile environments.
  • Clear Inspection Window: Provides instant visual confirmation of a blown element for faster system diagnostics.
  • Heat-Resistant Body: Mica-reinforced fibreglass housing offers superior structural integrity and thermal stability under heavy loads.
  • Standard ANL Footprint: Designed for seamless compatibility with Blue Sea Systems ANL fuse blocks and other standard ANL holders.

Ideal Applications for 500A ANL Fuses

High-amperage ANL fuses are an essential safety component in modern auxiliary power systems. This 500A model is frequently specified for:

  • Primary overcurrent protection for high-wattage 12V, 24V, and 48V inverters
  • Main battery cable protection in caravan, RV, and 4WD dual-battery setups
  • Marine electrical distribution systems, including windlasses and thruster circuits
  • Off-grid solar energy storage interconnections and heavy-duty DC busbars

Secure Your High-Current Electrical System

Protect your valuable inverters, cabling, and battery banks against damaging electrical faults. Add the Blue Sea 500A ANL Fuse to your system configuration today to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable DC circuit protection.
