Blue Sea 40A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker - Black
Blue Sea 40A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker - Black
Magnetic Hydraulic Trip-Free Switch & Circuit Protection for Panels

DESCRIPTION
Magnetic Hydraulic Switching and Overcurrent Protection
The Blue Sea A-Series 40A Single-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker combines manual switching and precise overcurrent protection into one compact, panel-mounted device. Engineered as the industry-standard electrical switch for marine, RV, and off-grid power distribution boards, this breaker eliminates the need for separate switches and fuse holders. By consolidating your electrical layout, it reduces wiring complexity, minimises potential failure points, and saves valuable dashboard or control panel space.
Why Choose a Magnetic Hydraulic Circuit Breaker?
Unlike standard thermal circuit breakers that rely on heat-sensitive bimetallic strips, this Blue Sea A-Series unit utilises a magnetic hydraulic mechanism. Standard thermal breakers can suffer from nuisance tripping in hot engine bays, canopies, or sun-exposed marine cabins because ambient heat lowers their trip threshold. A magnetic hydraulic breaker only responds to actual current flow through the coil, ensuring consistent 40A trip accuracy regardless of surrounding ambient temperatures.
Built for Safety: Trip-Free Design
Safety is critical when managing high-current 12V, 24V, or AC electrical systems. This unit features a specialised trip-free internal mechanism. In the event of a dangerous short circuit or sustained overcurrent fault, the breaker will trip internally even if the external toggle actuator is manually held or wedged in the ON position. This prevents catastrophic wire overheating, insulation melting, and potential electrical fires.
Key Features and Benefits
- Dual-Function Design: Combines manual circuit switching and 40A overcurrent protection into a single reliable component.
- Magnetic Hydraulic Mechanism: Provides temperature-stable trip performance, avoiding nuisance trips in high-heat environments.
- Trip-Free Operation: Ensures the circuit cannot be manually forced closed during an active fault current condition.
- High-Visibility Status: Features an ergonomic black toggle actuator with a clear visual OFF marking and a high-contrast 40A rating marker for immediate circuit identification.
- Secure Panel Mounting: Built with threaded brass mounting inserts for straightforward, vibration-resistant installation into switch panels and distribution boards.
Ideal Applications
Designed to meet stringent electrical standards, the BS-7224B is well suited for a wide variety of demanding DC and AC distribution setups:
- Marine Vessels: Main or branch circuit control in boat switch panels, bilge systems, and cabin power boards.
- Caravans and Motorhomes: Protecting 12V and 24V house battery circuits, lighting arrays, and high-draw appliances.
- 4WD and Canopy Fit-Outs: Reliable circuit management for dual-battery systems, air compressors, and auxiliary power hubs.
- Off-Grid and Industrial Panels: Custom control boxes and remote power enclosures requiring dependable switching and resettable protection.
Upgrade Your Electrical Panel Protection
Integrate the Blue Sea A-Series 40A Single-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker into your next marine, caravan, or custom switchboard build for dependable, resettable circuit control.
