Blue Sea 32in Diesel/Water/Waste Ultrasonic Tank Sender for VSM 422

DESCRIPTION

Reliable Non-Contact Tank Monitoring for the Blue Sea VSM 422

Managing fluid levels accurately in mobile and marine environments is critical for preventing unexpected fuel shortages, water depletion, or waste tank overflows. The Blue Sea Systems 1810B Ultrasonic Tank Sender provides a solid-state, non-contact solution specifically engineered for integration with the Vessel Systems Monitor VSM 422 (PN 1800). Suitable for diesel, freshwater, and black or grey waste holding tanks up to 32in (approx. 813mm) deep, this sensor delivers consistent and precise telemetry for demanding marine and off-grid applications.

Why Choose Ultrasonic Over Mechanical Senders?

Traditional mechanical float switches and reed-style tank senders rely on moving parts submerged directly inside the fluid. Over time, these mechanical components are prone to seizing, corrosion, and fouling—especially when exposed to solid debris in waste tanks or biological build-up in diesel fuel. This ultrasonic tank level sensor eliminates these common points of failure entirely.

By utilising acoustic waves from the top of the tank via its ultrasonic sensing tube, the unit operates without any moving parts coming into contact with the liquid. This significantly reduces maintenance requirements and avoids the intermittent or lost signals commonly associated with mechanical degradation.

Engineered for Mobile and Marine Conditions

One of the biggest challenges in marine vessels, caravans, and RVs is obtaining an accurate fluid reading while in motion. Vessel pitch, roll, and vehicle movement cause liquids to slosh, resulting in erratic gauge fluctuations on standard monitors. The BS-1810B incorporates advanced digital filtering that actively processes and smooths out errors caused by liquid movement, ensuring stable and dependable tank-level readings on your VSM 422 display even in rough seas or on uneven terrain.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Non-Contact Ultrasonic Sensing: Eliminates mechanical moving parts that can wear out, stick, or corrode, making it ideal for harsh waste and diesel environments.
  • Advanced Digital Filtering: Actively compensates for liquid sloshing in mobile tanks to provide steady, reliable level readouts.
  • Tank-Specific Calibration: Can be precisely calibrated for the specific geometry and depth of each individual tank up to 32in (approx. 813mm).
  • Secure Installation Hardware: Features a durable mounting flange with pre-drilled holes and a colour-coded 3-wire connection for straightforward electrical integration.
  • Dedicated VSM 422 Compatibility: Purpose-built and calibrated exclusively for seamless operation with the Blue Sea Vessel Systems Monitor VSM 422 (PN 1800).

Important Compatibility and Mounting Requirements

To ensure accurate acoustic reflections and reliable telemetry, specific installation criteria must be met. Please note: This sender is factory-calibrated specifically for the Blue Sea VSM 422 (PN 1800) and will not function with other tank monitors or third-party gauges.

  • Maximum Tank Depth: Suitable for tanks no deeper than 32in (approx. 813mm).
  • Internal Clearance: The sender must be mounted with at least 4in (approx. 102mm) of clearance from any internal tank side wall or structural baffle to prevent acoustic interference.
  • Tank Geometry: The floor of the tank must be flat (not sloped), and the mounting flange must be installed so the sender sits strictly perpendicular to the liquid surface.
  • Electrical Grounding: For optimal signal integrity, connect the sender's negative wire as directly as possible to the main negative bus.

Upgrade Your Vessel Systems Monitor

Eliminate the guesswork and maintenance of mechanical float switches. Equip your Blue Sea VSM 422 system with the BS-1810B Ultrasonic Tank Sender for dependable, slosh-filtered fluid monitoring across your diesel, water, and waste tanks.
