Blue Sea 3-Position SPDT Toggle Switch (ON)-OFF-ON
Blue Sea 3-Position SPDT Toggle Switch (ON)-OFF-ON
Fits 5/8" (16mm) A-Series Breaker Holes - Non-Corrosive Brass

DESCRIPTION
Precision Marine and Off-Grid Panel Switching
The Blue Sea Systems 8212B is a professional-grade SPDT three-position toggle switch engineered for seamless integration into marine, caravan, and custom electrical panels. Featuring a versatile (ON)-OFF-ON action, this switch provides both a momentary ON position, a central OFF state, and a maintained ON position. It is an ideal solution for complex circuits that require both temporary activation and continuous operation from a single, reliable control point.
Designed specifically to mount into Blue Sea Systems A-Series toggle circuit breaker apertures, this switch allows system builders and marine electricians to add low-voltage switching functionality directly into standard breaker panels without compromising aesthetic consistency. It comes supplied with a slim black vertical mounting plate and a specialised adapter that fits directly into a standard 5/8" (Approx. 16mm) circuit breaker mounting hole.
Key Features & Benefits
- Versatile (ON)-OFF-ON Action: Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) configuration offers one momentary ON position, a centre OFF position, and one maintained ON position for dual-mode circuit control.
- Seamless Panel Integration: Supplied with a black vertical faceplate and mounting adapter to fit directly into Blue Sea A-Series toggle circuit breaker apertures or standard 5/8" (Approx. 16mm) mounting holes.
- Marine-Grade Durability: Constructed from non-corrosive nickel-plated brass and phenolic materials to resist salt mist, moisture, and oxidation in harsh marine and coastal environments.
- High-Visibility Actuator: Features a crisp white toggle lever that stands out clearly against dark dashboard and switchboard panels, matching the profile of A-Series circuit breakers.
- Quick-Connect Termination: Equipped with rear male quick-connect tab terminals for fast, secure, and serviceable electrical wiring during installation.
Built to Withstand Harsh Marine Environments
Standard automotive switches often fail prematurely when exposed to high humidity, salt spray, and coastal air due to internal oxidation and contact degradation. The Blue Sea 8212B reduces the risk of electrical failure by utilising a non-corrosive nickel-plated brass and phenolic construction. Manufactured using a durable internal switch body, it delivers positive, tactile mechanical actuation that holds up under frequent use and vibration in boats, 4WDs, and off-grid power canopies.
Streamlined Installation in Custom Switchboards
Finding a toggle switch that matches the exact cut-out and visual profile of an existing circuit breaker panel can be challenging. When building or upgrading a marine electrical panel, unused circuit breaker slots often go to waste or require awkward blanking plates. This switch solves that problem by dropping directly into an A-Series aperture using the included recessed Phillips head mounting screws and adapter plate. The rear male quick-connect terminals accept standard female spade connectors, simplifying behind-panel loom management and reducing installation time.
Common Applications
The (ON)-OFF-ON configuration (where brackets indicate a momentary spring-return position) is suited to equipment requiring both manual override and continuous operation, or dual-speed/dual-function control:
- Windscreen Wipers: Use the maintained ON position for continuous wiping and the momentary (ON) position for a single sweep or washer pump activation.
- Bilge and Transfer Pumps: Operate in manual continuous mode or momentary jog/prime mode.
- Horn and Lighting Combos: Trigger a momentary warning signal in one direction and maintain anchor or deck lighting in the other.
- Actuators and Trim Systems: Ideal for circuits where one direction requires careful momentary jogging and the other requires latched operation.
