Blue Sea 25A 187-Series Panel Mount Thermal Circuit Breaker
Blue Sea 25A 187-Series Panel Mount Thermal Circuit Breaker
Up to 48V DC | Ignition Protected & Weatherproof | 5/16" (M8) Studs

DESCRIPTION
Combined Circuit Protection and Manual Switching for Harsh Environments
The Blue Sea 187-Series 25A Panel Mount Thermal Circuit Breaker delivers reliable overcurrent protection and manual switching in a single, robust unit. Engineered for demanding electrical systems up to 48V DC, this component simplifies wiring architectures by eliminating the need for a separate inline fuse holder and isolation switch. Whether you are outfitting a marine vessel, an off-grid 4WD canopy, or a custom caravan electrical board, this breaker ensures critical circuits remain safe from overload and short-circuit events.
Engineered for Safety and Trip-Free Reliability
When working with high-energy DC battery banks, compromising on circuit protection introduces severe electrical fire risks. Unlike standard switches or inferior breakers that can fail under load, the Blue Sea 187-Series features a dedicated trip-free mechanism. This internal design ensures the breaker cannot be manually held in the ON position while a fault-current condition exists, protecting your cabling and downstream appliances from thermal runaway.
Additionally, the housing is fully ignition protected and weatherproof. This makes it compliant and safe for installation aboard petrol-powered boats and near battery enclosures where explosive gases may accumulate, significantly reducing operational hazards in enclosed spaces.
Practical Panel Installation and Heavy-Duty Connectivity
Designed for clean integration into custom switchboards and dashboards, this unit utilises waterproof recessed mounting holes for a flush, professional finish. The high-visibility yellow lever provides immediate visual confirmation of the circuit status and can be oriented vertically or horizontally to suit your layout.
To prevent voltage drop and thermal buildup at the connection point, the breaker is equipped with generous clearance around its 5/16" (Approx. M8) terminal studs. This design easily accommodates heavy-gauge wire lugs, ensuring secure mechanical and electrical connections for high-draw accessories.
- Dual-Function Design: Combines 25A thermal circuit protection and manual ON/OFF switching into one compact device.
- Trip-Free Safety Mechanism: Internally disconnects and cannot be forced ON during an active electrical fault.
- Ignition Protected & Weatherproof: Safe for installation in marine bilges, petrol boat engine bays, and exposed off-grid environments.
- Heavy-Duty Terminals: Large 5/16" (Approx. M8) studs provide ample clearance for heavy-gauge lugs in 12V, 24V, and up to 48V DC systems.
- Clear Visual Status: High-visibility yellow reset lever clearly indicates tripped status and allows easy manual isolation.
- Flush Panel Mounting: Recessed mounting holes ensure a neat, low-profile installation on dashboards and power distribution panels.
Application Guidelines and System Integration
This 25A thermal breaker is ideal for protecting main branch circuits, anchor winches, dc-to-dc chargers, and auxiliary lighting arrays across 12V, 24V, and 48V DC setups. For optimal longevity and contact preservation, please note a specific operational exclusion: do not use this breaker as a manual switch where high inrush currents are expected. Switching high inrush loads regularly can prematurely wear the internal thermal contacts.
