Blue Sea 250A C-Series Triple-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker
Blue Sea 250A C-Series Triple-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker
Magnetic Hydraulic Switching & Protection - Terminal Busbar Included

DESCRIPTION
High-Capacity Magnetic Hydraulic Overcurrent Protection and Switching
Engineered for demanding marine, off-grid, and mobile electrical architectures, this 250A circuit breaker delivers reliable circuit switching and overcurrent protection in a single, compact unit. By integrating manual switching directly with the protection mechanism, it eliminates the need for separate isolator switches and fuse holders. This simplifies panel layouts, reduces wiring complexity, and minimises potential points of electrical resistance in high-current distribution networks.
Advanced Magnetic Hydraulic Mechanism
Unlike standard thermal breakers that rely on heat-sensitive bimetallic strips, the C-Series utilises a precision magnetic hydraulic mechanism. Standard thermal units can suffer from nuisance tripping when installed in high-temperature environments such as boat engine rooms, enclosed battery compartments, or vehicle canopies. Because a magnetic hydraulic design responds solely to electrical current flow rather than ambient temperature fluctuations, it maintains a consistent and dependable trip curve regardless of environmental heat.
Parallel Pole Design for High-Amperage Loads
To safely manage heavy 250A electrical loads, this triple-pole model utilises a heavy-duty terminal busbar to distribute current across multiple internal poles. The white toggle handle is mechanically bridged, ensuring simultaneous switching and coordinated tripping across all three poles. If an overcurrent fault occurs, the internal mechanism trips instantly even if the toggle is manually held in the ON position, commonly referred to as a trip-free design, safeguarding cabling and connected equipment from severe damage.
Key Features and Hardware Benefits
- Integrated Functionality: Combines heavy-duty manual circuit switching with automatic overcurrent protection in one panel-mounted device.
- Temperature-Stable Operation: Magnetic hydraulic internal structure prevents derating or false tripping caused by high ambient temperatures.
- Mechanically Linked Toggles: Bridged white handle ensures simultaneous disconnection of all three poles during manual operation or fault conditions.
- Heavy-Duty Busbar Connection: Pre-fitted metal terminal plate streamlines high-capacity wire termination and distributes current load evenly.
- Secure Panel Mounting: Integrated brass threaded mounting inserts provide robust mechanical retention on switchboards and distribution panels.
- Trip-Free Safety Mechanism: Internal contacts cannot be held closed manually during an active overcurrent fault, reducing the risk of cable fires and equipment damage.
Ideal Applications
Built to meet the rigorous demands of heavy-duty DC and AC systems, this Blue Sea circuit breaker is suited for high-draw installations where safety and reliability are paramount:
- Main battery bank isolation and overcurrent protection in marine vessels, caravans, and motorhomes
- High-output inverter, inverter-charger, and large DC-DC charger circuits
- Heavy-duty winches, bow thrusters, and windlass systems
- Industrial off-grid solar power distribution boards and commercial vehicle electrical systems
