Blue Sea 240VAC 50A 3-Pole ELCI Shore Power Leakage Protection Switch with 30mA Trip Threshold
Blue Sea 240VAC 50A 3-Pole ELCI Shore Power Leakage Protection Switch with 30mA Trip Threshold
ABYC E-11 Compliant & UL 1500 Ignition Protected Main Breaker

DESCRIPTION
Comprehensive Whole-Boat Shore Power Fault Protection
Connecting a vessel to marina shore power introduces unique electrical hazards that standard household circuit breakers are not designed to manage. The Blue Sea Systems 240VAC 50A 3-Pole ELCI (Equipment Leakage Circuit Interrupter) provides critical whole-boat protection by combining reliable overcurrent response with sensitive ground fault detection. Engineered specifically for the harsh marine environment, this main circuit breaker acts as the primary safeguard between the shore power pedestal and your onboard AC distribution system, significantly reducing the risk of electric shock drowning (ESD) and electrical fires.
Advanced Tri-Fault Detection and Safety
Unlike basic overcurrent breakers that only respond to high-amperage events, this ELCI unit continuously monitors the current balance across the AC shore power line. If it detects a dangerous current leakage to ground exceeding the 30mA trip threshold, it rapidly disconnects the power supply before harm can occur to passengers, crew, or swimmers in the surrounding water. Additionally, the robust 3-pole configuration ensures simultaneous disconnection of all relevant conductors during a fault event, providing comprehensive isolation for high-capacity 240VAC marine systems.
- Whole-Boat Protection: Integrates overcurrent, short-circuit, and ground leakage detection into a single main breaker unit.
- 30mA Leakage Trip Threshold: Detects subtle ground faults early to mitigate shock hazards and prevent stray current corrosion.
- ABYC E-11 Compliance: Fully meets American Boat and Yacht Council requirements for AC shore power main circuit protection.
- UL 1500 Ignition Protected: Safe for installation in compartments where flammable gases or petrol vapours may be present.
- Diagnostic Status Indicators: Built-in LEDs provide immediate visual confirmation of power status and fault conditions.
- Integrated Test Circuit: Features a front-facing test button to easily perform recommended monthly safety verifications.
- Front-Panel Mounting: Equipped with brass-threaded mounting points for secure integration into custom or modular marine distribution panels.
Engineered for Demanding Marine Environments
Substandard electrical components can quickly succumb to salt air, vibration, and humidity, leading to nuisance tripping or catastrophic failure when a real fault occurs. Blue Sea Systems constructs this ELCI switch to stringent marine standards, meeting UL 1500 external ignition protection requirements. This certification ensures the internal switching mechanism will not ignite surrounding fumes, making it suitable for diverse mounting locations aboard petrol or diesel vessels.
Streamlined Panel Integration and Maintenance
Designed for professional marine electricians and discerning boat owners, this unit mounts cleanly into main AC power distribution panels. The clean white toggle switch clearly indicates the 50A rating and operational status, while the integrated LED indicators take the guesswork out of troubleshooting shore power connection issues at the dock. Routine safety checks are straightforward thanks to the dedicated test button, allowing skippers to verify the integrity of the leakage protection circuit prior to departure or upon connecting to an unfamiliar marina supply.
Upgrade Your Vessel's AC Safety
Ensure your vessel meets modern marine electrical standards and protect everyone aboard from unseen AC leakage hazards. Integrate the Blue Sea Systems 50A 3-Pole ELCI into your shore power distribution panel for dependable, marine-grade fault protection.
