Blue Sea 50A 230V 2-pole ELCI with front panel toggle switch and LED status indicators

Blue Sea 230VAC 50A 30mA Trip 2 Pole Equipment Leakage Circuit Interrupter, Front Panel Mount

DESCRIPTION

Comprehensive AC Main Circuit Protection for Marine and Mobile Power Distribution

The Blue Sea Systems 230VAC 50A Equipment Leakage Circuit Interrupter (ELCI) delivers essential whole-system protection for demanding marine, RV, and off-grid AC power distribution setups. Functioning similarly to a Residual Current Breaker with Overcurrent (RCBO), this precision-engineered unit combines rigorous overcurrent protection with sensitive ground fault detection in a single, compact assembly. Designed specifically to mitigate the risks of electrical fires and shock hazards caused by faulty appliances or compromised wiring, it ensures complete electrical isolation when an anomaly is detected.

Dual-Pole Isolation and Triple-Action Safety

When managing 230VAC shore power or heavy-duty inverter outputs, standard single-pole breakers can leave your system vulnerable to reverse polarity faults or residual voltages on the neutral line. This 2-pole ELCI addresses that vulnerability by simultaneously disconnecting both the active (hot) and neutral conductors the moment a fault occurs. It actively monitors your electrical system and trips instantly under three critical conditions: short circuits, sustained current overloads, and dangerous leakage to ground exceeding the 30mA threshold.

Unlike basic residential switchgear that may struggle in high-vibration or moisture-prone environments, Blue Sea Systems hardware is purpose-built for the harsh realities of marine and mobile applications. Integrating this ELCI at the primary AC entry point protects both onboard personnel and sensitive downstream electronics from unpredictable shore power pedestals and internal wiring degradation.

Key Features and Operational Benefits

  • Complete 2-Pole Disconnection: Isolates both active and neutral AC lines simultaneously for superior safety during fault conditions.
  • Triple-Threat Protection: Combines a 50A main circuit breaker (overload and short circuit) with a 30mA residual current trip mechanism.
  • Visual Diagnostic LEDs: Integrated front-panel status indicators provide immediate visual confirmation of power status and ground leakage faults.
  • Integrated Push-to-Test Function: Features a dedicated manual test button on the front bezel for straightforward monthly safety verification and compliance checks.
  • Robust Terminal Architecture: Equipped with heavy-duty electrical connection terminals featuring brass threaded inserts to ensure secure, low-resistance wiring connections that resist loosening under vibration.
  • Streamlined Front-Panel Mounting: Built with integrated threaded inserts for secure installation directly into custom switchboards or modular power distribution panels.

Engineered for Seamless Panel Integration

Upgrading or building a custom AC distribution panel requires components that are both reliable and intuitive to operate. This unit features a high-visibility black and white vertical toggle switch for positive manual operation, paired with a clear specification label showing voltage, current, and trip ratings for easy inspection. The front-panel mount design allows for clean integration into marine switchboards, off-grid cabin enclosures, and commercial vehicle electrical bays.

Secure Your AC Power Distribution System

Ensure your vessel, caravan, or off-grid electrical system meets high safety standards with dependable main circuit protection. Add the Blue Sea 230VAC 50A ELCI to your distribution panel build today for reliable overload and ground fault defence.
