Blue Sea 230VAC 16A Main + 8 Position Electrical Distribution Panel
Blue Sea 230VAC 16A Main + 8 Position Electrical Distribution Panel
Pre-Wired with Analogue AC Meters, Backlit Labels & Polarity LED

DESCRIPTION
Pre-Wired 230VAC Marine and Off-Grid Distribution with Integrated Metering
Managing high-voltage alternating current in mobile, marine, and off-grid environments demands uncompromising safety and precision. The Blue Sea Systems 8174B AC Electrical Distribution Panel provides a centralised, professional-grade solution for routing 230VAC power from shore power connections, onboard generators, or heavy-duty inverters. Engineered specifically to handle the rigours of demanding installations, this panel combines a double-pole 16A main circuit breaker with eight branch circuit positions to protect and organise your critical AC appliances.
Unlike standard commercial switchboards that rely on thermal breakers prone to nuisance tripping in hot engine rooms or cramped electrical cabinets, this distribution panel utilises specialised magnetic-hydraulic circuit breakers. This ensures reliable, accurate overcurrent protection regardless of ambient temperature fluctuations. To further streamline your system setup, the unit comes with five 8A branch breakers pre-installed and three open positions, allowing you to customise and expand the panel as your power requirements grow.
Real-Time AC Monitoring and Polarity Protection
Operating 230VAC systems safely requires constant vigilance against wiring faults and overloading. This panel features integrated analogue AC voltmeter and ammeter gauges at the top of the unit, offering immediate, at-a-glance diagnostics of your system's voltage stability and total current draw. This real-time visibility helps you manage loads effectively—such as balancing an air conditioner, water heater, and battery charger—to prevent tripping the main shore power or inverter breaker.
To mitigate the severe risks associated with faulty shore power pedestals or incorrect wiring, a dedicated red reverse-polarity indicating LED is wired directly into the main circuit. If active and neutral lines are accidentally swapped at the source, this warning light alerts you immediately before you engage branch circuits, protecting sensitive onboard electronics and reducing shock hazards.
Key Features and System Benefits
- Fully Pre-Wired Architecture: All hot, neutral, and safety ground bus bars are factory-installed and pre-wired, significantly reducing installation time and minimising the risk of wiring errors behind the panel.
- Integrated Analogue Metering: Built-in AC voltage and current gauges allow continuous monitoring of power quality and load demands without requiring external digital displays.
- Comprehensive LED Status Indicators: Individual green 'ON' LEDs at every circuit position provide clear visual confirmation of active loads, accompanied by a prominent red reverse-polarity warning LED.
- Backlit Circuit Labels: Standard label slots feature built-in backlighting with no additional kit required, ensuring effortless circuit identification in dark cabins, lockers, or helm stations.
- Expandable Branch Capacity: Supplied with five 8A single-pole breakers installed across the eight available slots, leaving three spare positions ready for custom circuit additions.
Engineered for Demanding Applications
Whether you are refitting a marine vessel, building a custom off-grid expedition vehicle, or upgrading a mobile command unit, the Blue Sea 8174B simplifies complex 230VAC wiring into a clean, user-friendly interface. By consolidating main circuit isolation, branch protection, bus bar distribution, and system metering into a single cohesive unit, it eliminates the clutter of separate enclosures and disparate components.
Upgrade your 230VAC power management with the Blue Sea 8174B distribution panel today for safer, cleaner, and more reliable electrical control in your marine or off-grid setup.
