Blue Sea 20A C-Series Single-Pole Flat Rocker Circuit Breaker

DESCRIPTION

Integrated Switching and Overcurrent Protection for Demanding Electrical Systems

The Blue Sea C-Series 20A Single-Pole Flat Rocker Circuit Breaker is engineered to deliver both reliable overcurrent protection and convenient manual on-off switching within a single, compact housing. In demanding marine, RV, and off-grid electrical installations, panel space is often limited. By combining a heavy-duty switch with a magnetic-hydraulic circuit breaker, this unit eliminates the need for separate switching components and fuse blocks, streamlining your wiring layout and reducing potential failure points across your distribution system.

Engineered for Safety: Trip-Free and Flush-Mount Design

Unlike standard commercial switches that can be accidentally knocked into the off or on position in rough seas or corrugated off-road tracks, the C-Series flat rocker features a recessed actuator that sits completely flush when in the ON position. This ergonomic profile prevents unintended actuation caused by movement inside a cabin or tight electrical locker. Additionally, a high-visibility coloured actuator clearly exposes the OFF status, giving operators immediate visual confirmation of circuit isolation during maintenance or emergency troubleshooting.

Safety is further reinforced through a mechanical trip-free mechanism. If an overcurrent fault or short circuit occurs on the line, the internal mechanism will trip immediately and cannot be manually held closed to bypass the fault. This critical safety feature reduces the risk of wire insulation melting, equipment damage, or electrical fires, outperforming standard thermal breakers that may suffer from ambient temperature derating in hot engine bays or enclosed battery compartments.

Key Features and Technical Advantages

  • Dual-Function Operation: Combines heavy-duty manual on-off switching and precision overcurrent protection in one panel-mount device.
  • Flush-On Flat Rocker: Actuator sits flush in the ON position to prevent accidental switching in high-vibration or cramped environments.
  • High-Visibility Status Indicator: Coloured actuator portion reveals clearly when the breaker is in the OFF or tripped position.
  • Trip-Free Safety Mechanism: Internal contacts cannot be forced or held closed during an active overcurrent fault condition.
  • Robust Terminal Architecture: Rear 5/16" (Approx. M8 or 7.9mm) stud terminals accommodate larger ring terminals and heavy-gauge cabling for minimal voltage drop.
  • Secure Front-Panel Mounting: Integrated standard threaded inserts allow for clean, reliable installation into custom switch panels and dashboards.

Versatile Applications Across Marine and Off-Grid Power

While the C-Series family is widely recognised for protecting heavy marine loads such as bow thrusters, windlasses, and high-output inverters, this 20A single-pole configuration is ideally suited for dedicated branch circuits, control lines, and medium-draw appliances. Its robust 5/16" (Approx. M8) rear stud terminals provide substantial contact surface area, allowing installers to terminate larger cable lugs securely without the mechanical stress often seen on small screw terminals.

Whether you are fitting out a coastal cruiser, building a 12V or 24V auxiliary power distribution board in a touring 4WD, or upgrading an off-grid solar control cabinet, the Blue Sea Systems C-Series provides dependable circuit management. Upgrade your electrical panel with the Blue Sea C-Series 20A Flat Rocker Circuit Breaker today for professional-grade circuit protection and clean panel integration.
